Smidge has a home!

She leaves us this morning but she is so loved by us! She went for a last trip to see my family in Palm Springs 🌴yesterday and had so much fun!
This is our last litter of petites till the Fall🍁

We had Nano🖤 & Tad🧡 go home today form Chloe & Charlie! We will miss this litter so much, they might have been my favorite of all time!

Smidge💜 from this litter was found to have a grade 2/3 heart murmur at six weeks old by our vet. That is why she is temporarily held. Our vet doesn’t expect it to resolve before 10-12 weeks so we’re holding onto her for a little bit longer to see if it goes away on its own. We will be looking to place her in a pet home whatever the outcome.

Dot 🩵 is our Pick Of the Litter to replace her mom Chloe when she retires next year. She is perfect in every way except for a bite issue. We are waiting to see if Dot’s base-narrow canine resolves as her lower jaw grows more. It has always resolved when adult teeth come in at 5- months but for our breeding program, we try to keep dogs with correct dentition from the beginning to avoid passing this trait forward. If it doesn’t resolve soon, she will be looking for a pet home as well!

This is what I’ve been telling our buyers for years who ask if we do temperament testing. It’s a snapshot of the Puppy at that exact time at seven weeks and nothing more. The only trait that was identified at 7-weeks old and shown to move forward to adulthood was curiosity.

Two years ago I stopped temperament testing my puppies. Completely.

I made this decision after reading the research. Study after study shows that puppy temperament tests have little to no predictive value for adult behavior.

One study found that the correlation between puppy test results and adult behavior was exactly what you would expect by pure chance. Another found that some of the most fearful puppies ended up being the most friendly adults.

I decided the 2 to 3 days I spent on testing, filming, and writing evaluations were better spent actually working with the puppies.

“Dream” 💜is the smallest puppy of our XL F1b Goldendoodle litter and she is available! She is currently 10.5 lbs and expected to be 50-70lbs full grown. “Dream” has a beautiful dark apricot, curly coat and black nose. It almost looks like she has makeup on! Her energy is medium and her temperament is playful and social- everything you want in a new puppy🐾 she is 8-weeks old and ready to go home now
