We’re heartbroken that Dallas — the longest resident at West Jordan Animal Services — still hasn’t found a home. 💔

Dallas is 4 years old and basically a giant, blocky pitopotamus whose greatest passions in life are snacks, zoomies, and being involved in absolutely everything you do.

He previously lived with another dog and did great, and he’d probably love a playful canine bestie to wrestle with, nap beside, and commit minor acts of chaos alongside. He also doesn’t seem to mind cats at the shelter.

Dallas is goofy, affectionate, hilariously expressive, and the kind of dog who keeps you laughing every single day. Is he academically gifted? Maybe not. Does he occasionally seem confused by his own feet? Absolutely. But he loves people with his whole entire heart, and you can feel it the second you meet him.

Please come meet Dallas at West Jordan Animal Services. They’re open Monday–Friday from 10 AM–6 PM.

Meet Willow, Ginger, and Sophie! 🐹💚

These adorable guinea pigs are all from the same family. Willow and Sophie are managing chronic bladder issues, while Ginger visits us for ongoing bloating concerns. We’re always happy to help these sweet pets stay as healthy and comfortable as possible!

Huge welcome to Murray Animal Hospital’s newest doctor, Stephen Crane, DVM, MS, DACVP (Clinical Pathology)!!

Dr. Stephen Crane grew up outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Louisiana State University, where he earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After graduating from veterinary school in 2018, Dr. Crane completed a residency in clinical pathology and earned a Master’s degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign before becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2022.

Before joining Murray Animal Hospital, Dr. Crane worked as a diagnostic pathologist and is excited to now provide excellent patient care and build lasting relationships with clients and their pets. His professional interests include clinical pathology, oncology, infectious disease, and dentistry.

Outside of work, Dr. Crane enjoys working out, homebrewing craft beer, playing the drums, and exploring all that Utah has to offer with his fiancée and their Rottweiler, Yara.

Did you know Utah pets can still be exposed to ticks? 🐾

As the weather warms up, it’s important to check your pets after hikes, walks, and outdoor adventures and make sure they’re protected with proper flea & tick prevention.

This sweet baby great horned owl from the wildlife center recently came into Murray Animal Hospital for X-rays after showing neurologic signs. Unfortunately, nothing significant was found on imaging, which means toxicity or infection are the most likely causes.

Lead toxicity and rodenticide exposure are sadly very common in birds of prey and can have devastating effects on these incredible animals. Cases like this are such an important reminder to be mindful about what is being used in our environment and the impact it can have on local wildlife.
