Today, we remember.

Twenty-five years later, September 11, 2001 remains a day etched into the heart of our nation. We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage of the first responders, service members, and ordinary Americans who stepped forward to serve others.

We also remember what happened in the years that followed.

An entire generation of Americans answered the call to military service because of 9/11. My own sons were among them.

They served because they believed in something bigger than themselves. They sacrificed, they carried burdens many of us will never fully understand, and they came home changed by their experiences.

We are here for them.

At Vets & Pets of Southern Illinois, we believe that caring for a veteran means caring for the things that matter most to them—including the beloved companion waiting for them at home.

Today, we’ll be at The Hub in Marion from 9–11 AM, sharing who we are, what we do, and how our community comes alongside veterans when they need a little help caring for their pets.

We may have been quiet on this Labor Day, but we’ve got some fun things coming up! 🐾🇺🇸

September is shaping up to be a busy month for Vets & Pets of Southern Illinois, and we’re excited to get out into the community, meet some new friends, and share more about what we do.

🐾 A Betsy Update! 🐾

Betsy is doing very well with her foster family, too! ❤️

She’s been dealing with a little seasonal allergy trouble lately—and honestly, we can relate. 😅 But her foster mom is right on top of it, and Betsy is getting the treatment she needs and plenty of TLC.

Meanwhile, Richard has had a setback or two with his health, but he’s healing day by day. And through those unexpected bumps in the road, there’s one less thing he has to worry about:

Betsy is safe.

She’s being cared for, she’s being loved, and she’s exactly where she needs to be while Richard works toward getting well enough to come home to her.

Sometimes healing doesn’t happen in a straight line. Sometimes there are setbacks. But knowing your best friend is safe can make all the difference.

Because healing is POSSIBLE when your pet is safe. 🐾❤️

🐾 A Bobby Update! 🐾

Remember Bobby, the 10-month-old Boxer who came to us when his veteran needed a safe place for him?

Well… Bobby is doing GREAT with his foster! ❤️

As it turns out, Bobby and his foster mom have quite a bit in common. They’re both sweet. They’re both lovable. And they’re both stubborn! 😂

Our money is on foster mom for the win!😉

While Bobby is busy settling in and being his adorable, stubborn self, his veteran is able to focus on what matters most—his treatment and healing. He doesn’t have the added worry of wondering what will happen to his beloved pup. He knows Bobby is safe, loved, and in good hands.

That’s what a safe place for a pet can mean to a veteran who is facing a difficult season.

Because healing is POSSIBLE when your pet is safe. 🐾❤️
