Things we learn about and change---

I am holding a horse in this horse show photo from about 60 years ago who has a saddle with no pad helping to cushion the impact of the rider’s weight. This was sort of normal back then. Some people used towels, but that was to keep the saddle clean, not to protect the horse.

We look back decades later and wonder how we were so out to lunch. The reality is that there were many things we simply did not understand. Sixty years from now, someone will look at some 2025 photo and ask, “How were those people so ignorant?”
