When you first enter our cat room at the shelter, you may hear a sad crying from the corner of the room. Honey Bun hates being alone, and desperately cries for attention whenever someone passes by, hoping she won't be overlooked again. 😿

Honey Bun has been at our shelter for 3 long months, waiting for her forever home. She is 2 years old and had a litter of kittens before arriving at our shelter, who all got adopted before she did. Although she may not be as small and playful as a kitten, Honey Bun still has the cuteness and sweet personality of one 💕

Apollo is ready to love you to the moon and back 🌗This adventurous 1.5-year-old boy is looking for a forever home where he can play with a mountain of toys, zoom back and forth, and get fed lots of treats 🍖

🐻 Meet Bear 🐻

This pint-sized pup has been growing up in and is ready to settle into her furever home!

Bear was originally brought to us in February through an Animal Control partner with her mom and littermates, and Bear is the last one looking for her family 🩵 She is working on all of her manners and training to be the best pup any adopter could ask for; now she just needs a chance.

Bear loves snuggling with the resident dogs in the home and cries when she's separated from them. She has also done well with cats and kids - she's happy to be included with the whole family!

Bear is ready to find her permanent place in the world; is it with you?

Her name may be spicy, but this 1-year-old girl is totally sweet! Pepper has been racking up an excellent report card in :

✋️ Knows sit and lay down
👨‍👧‍👧 Great with kids
🐶 Dog friendly
⚾️ Loves any ball

"Pepper would make a great family dog for almost anyone. For active families, she has enough energy to go all day, and loves to play fetch! For less active households, she is also content to just to curl up and nap on the couch. She does great with other dogs and would prefer a dog who would be a good playmate." - Pepper's Foster.

Humvee is still waiting...

Humvee has been in and out of the shelter since November, and he is ready to break out of here for GOOD! Despite his slight case of RBF, he is a happy fellow who wants nothing more than to melt into your lap for pets. Humvee recently went on a and received a glowing review:

"Humvee was AMAZING. We played, got a pup cup, went to an empty park to sniff around and walk for a bit. He’s a big baby, and anytime I went to the bathroom he would sit there and wait for me. We had a great time!"

As some of you may know, earlier this month Humane Indiana lost a fierce supporter and friend of our organization. Judy Olen spent decades supporting Humane Indiana as an adopter, donor, and President of the Board of Directors. Alongside her husband Mike, Judy advocated tirelessly for animals in our community and beyond. Even in her passing, Judy continues to share her incredible love of animals and helping those who cannot help themselves.

Thank you to all who have made a contribution to Humane Indiana in Judy's memory; these donations make it possible for others to continue the work she was so passionate about. Our thoughts are with Mike and all of Judy's friends and family during this time.

Rest in Peace, Judy ❤

Experience nature after dark at Nocturnal Nature Night - an evening of wildlife, wonder, and family-friendly fun you won’t want to miss!

Location: Cedar Lake Friary, 12921 Parrish Ave, Cedar Lake
Time: 5-9 pm
Admission: $20 per vehicle at the gate with discounts for seniors and children under 12. Cash and card are accepted.

Funds raised directly support local, native, injured and orphaned wildlife in the care of Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation.
