We’re still desperately trying to find homes for many kitties! These babies are not located in the shelter. They will be available on a home to home adoption and we are working on getting them to the vet for vaccines/spay & neuters. They’re all cat friendly and most are female. Please reach out to us if you can foster or adopt, anything helps! We can also provide some specific details if you message us as to which cat you’re interested in.

We, at the Alger County Animal Shelter, are celebrating a great KICK OFF to the Alger County Animal Shelter’s Outside Dog Kennel Fundraiser!

A great big THANK YOU for the very generous donations from Henry Gendron, VMD, and Mary Lee Gendron and family; and Margretta Larson and family, In Memory of Nan Taube and Richard Bornslaeger, toward the KICK OFF of the Alger County Animal Shelter’s Outside Dog Kennel Fundraiser.

Last year, Mark and Nancy Troudt donated $10,000 to the Alger County Animal Shelter’s Inside Kennel Project! Which brought us to completion of the Inside Kennels, and was a huge success.

The Alger County Animal Shelter operates solely on donations and we want to give a great big shout out and thank you to all who are making it possible to meet our Mission of continuing to be a No-Kill, No Time Limit Animal Shelter here in Alger County!

Looking for a foster family for this sweet girl. She’s very stressed from living with several other cats and has been licking herself excessively. She was recently spayed, had rabies shot, and first dose of Revolution. Please contact the shelter if you can help us out.

We love our pupdates! Ackerly (Now Rosie) is living her best life ever. Here is an update from Rosie's family: " We adopted Ackerly a few years ago who is now Rosie.

Rosie recently got a new brother after losing her sister Zoey. Here are a few pictures of her and Benny.

She immediately took to him. He is a rescue from OCAPS. Rosie is thriving and very happy with her new "boyfriend". She let him groom her the whole way home...which is unheard for her!
