Since it’s that time of year again🔥💨here is a little refresher and a chart for everyone to reference.
[I’ll save it in the smoke/AQI highlight]

‼️Remember🫁are soft tissues too and we don’t want to injure them because rehab takes time‼️

Other🐴 things to do when the AQI gets high —

🔹provide plenty of fresh/ clean water

🔹limit dust exposure as much as possible. This means soaking hay if needed and don’t BLOW the aisles (IYKYK)
Fans are ok if moving air and not dust; don’t use if AQI is over 300 (we don’t want outdoor air inside if possible)

🔸Saline is okay to use in your nebulizer to help keep🫁 moist and flushed out. Do not use other medications unless directed by your veterinarian. We don’t want the airway MORE open when the AQI is high.

🔺Supplements with omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin C, vitamin E and resveratrol can be helpful in decreasing inflammation and providing extra antioxidants.

▪️Side note — if your🐴 does not load in a trailer well this time of year is a good reminder that trailer loading is important — when things are🔥🫣🔥you need them to load fast!!

I’ve been an🐴 veterinarian for 15 yrs🎉and I wouldn’t trade the horses for the world.

Some days it’s hard and people can be rude😑and horses will kick you but other days you fix them and owners/trainers are happy and horses give the best love😘💕so here we are. Cheers to another 15 yrs🤞🏻💜🦄

Snuck down to Arabian Regionals yesterday and got to ride one of my favorites around the arena for her Top 5.
Thanks for a fun afternoon🐴🥇

I often get asked “How loud is the standing MRI” so I figured we would record a little and let y’all be the judge.

I don’t think it’s that loud😎Certainly, quieter than when I had my knee MRI done🙉but then again, I was almost in the tube so that’s to be expected🎧

Most of the horses do fine with the noise and don’t even seem to notice it after it’s started. The MRI room is basically a nice, quiet, temperature-controlled nap room with an odd sound machine [that happens to be taking pictures to give us all the answers]🐴🧲🤞🏻
