🪰🚨 NEW WORLD SCREWWORM: A THREAT TO ANIMALS. A THREAT TO US ALL. 🚨🪰

New World Screwworm (NWS) is a flesh-eating parasite that poses a serious threat to livestock, pets, wildlife, and our agricultural industry. Unlike typical maggots that feed on dead tissue, screwworm larvae feed on LIVING tissue, causing painful wounds that can quickly become severe if left untreated.

🔍 Watch for:
• Wounds that won’t heal
• Foul-smelling or draining wounds
• Visible maggots (larvae)
• Swelling, pain, or inflammation
• Loss of appetite, lethargy, or fever

🐄🐎🐕 Animals with recent wounds, surgical sites, navels, dehorning sites, or other injuries are at the highest risk.

🪰 Prevention starts with vigilance:
✔️ Check animals regularly for wounds
✔️ Treat wounds promptly
✔️ Maintain effective fly control
✔️ Monitor newborn and recently processed animals closely

🎉🐾 Join Us in Welcoming Dr. Kaitlyn Dunn to Muleshoe Animal Clinic! 🐾🎉

We are excited to announce that Dr. Kaitlyn Dunn, DVM will be joining the Muleshoe Animal Clinic team beginning June 8th and will soon be available for appointments!

Dr. Dunn grew up in Leon, West Virginia, where her love for animals and agriculture began through her involvement in 4-H and FFA. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal and Nutritional Sciences, with a minor in Equine Sciences, from West Virginia University before pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her clinical training at Texas A&M University.

Dr. Dunn is passionate about supporting both her patients and the agricultural community. Her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is contributing to the agricultural industry while helping animals live healthy, productive lives.

When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Dunn enjoys spending time with her dog, Ivy, exploring the outdoors, and discovering new places.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Dunn join our team and look forward to the knowledge, compassion, and dedication she will bring to our patients, clients, and local agricultural community.

🎉🐾 Please Help Us Welcome Dr. Payton Ragsdale to Muleshoe Animal Clinic! 🐾🎉

We are excited to announce that Dr. Payton Ragsdale, DVM will be joining the Muleshoe Animal Clinic team beginning June 1st and is now accepting appointments!

Dr. Ragsdale grew up in Frisco, Texas, and has always had a passion for both animals and agriculture. She earned her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from West Texas A&M University before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Texas A&M University.

Whether she’s caring for livestock, horses, or companion animals, Dr. Ragsdale’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is building lasting relationships with clients and helping care for the animals that are such an important part of their lives.

When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Ragsdale enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors, and making memories with her husband, Cody, and their dog, Charlie.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Ragsdale join our team and look forward to the compassionate care and dedication she will bring to our patients and community.

Welcome to the Muleshoe Animal Clinic family, Locke 🖤🐾

This handsome boy is a Maine C**n kitten, and he’s already stealing hearts around the clinic! Known as the “gentle giants” of the cat world, Maine C**ns are one of the largest domestic cat breeds and are famous for their dog-like personalities, intelligence, and affectionate nature.

Fun facts about Maine C**ns👇
✨ Their giant paws and fluffy tails help them handle cold weather
✨ They’re known for chirping and trilling instead of typical meows
✨ Maine C**ns can take 3–5 years to reach full size
✨ Despite their size, they’re usually incredibly gentle and social
✨ Many even enjoy water (yes… really 😅)

At just 12 weeks old and already 4.8 lbs, Locke is well on his way to becoming a BIG boy! We can’t wait to watch him grow 🖤🐈‍⬛

February is here, and so is our No Balls, No Babies Valentine’s Fundraiser because nothing says love like preventing “accidental” litters 💕

Every single month, our rescue spays and neuters at least 12 dogs and 8 cats (that’s the bare minimum). It’s one of the biggest ways we stop the cycle of overpopulation and it’s also one of our biggest expenses.

So we made it fun 😏👇
