Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Denise, our newest Veterinary Assistant! We’re so excited to have her on the team. 💚

Denise comes to us with experience working at a local kennel, where she developed a strong foundation in animal care and a passion for helping pets feel safe and comfortable. She’s eager to continue learning and growing in veterinary medicine while supporting our patients and their families.

At home, Denise shares her life with one lucky pup, Willow, and two feline companions, Daisy and Oliver — so she truly understands the joy (and chaos!) that comes with a multi-pet household. 🐶🐱🐱

Say hello to Truman, our resident clinic cat and unofficial member of upper management 💼🐱

Truman joined MAVA about 6 months ago as what was supposed to be a “temporary stay”… and then never left — kind of like that friend who crashes on your couch for a few days and becomes permanent family. We’re not complaining. 💛

This handsome 10-year-old Norwegian Forest Cat now runs the upstairs division from his private office, complete with luxury window seating, a giant cat tree, and free-range access to supervise operations from above.

🎓 Did You Know?
Long-haired cats like Norwegian Forest Cats require regular grooming to prevent painful matting. When brushing is too stressful (as Truman firmly believes it is), veterinary-supervised sedation grooming can be the safest and kindest option.

We’re so glad Truman found his way to MAVA — even if he mostly supervises from a sunny window and judges us all. 🐾

Meet the team Monday - Andrew, Veterinary Assistant

Andrew joined MAVA in December 2023 after graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Environmental Science. This is his first role in veterinary medicine, and he enjoys learning every day while supporting patient care.
Andrew is also part of our social media team and is the driving force behind our Pet of the Month and New Pet posts.
Outside of work, he’s an avid hockey player, gym-goer, and sports fan, and spends his time with his lovable English Cream Golden Retriever, Samson.
