Another Whitetail WIP (work in progress)

Every mount that leaves the shop represents more than just a trophy, it represents early mornings, hard work, memories made in the field, and a story worth preserving.

At Wild by Nature Taxidermy, our goal is to capture the character of each animal and create a piece that will look just as impressive years from now as it does today. From natural expression and detail work to overall presentation, we take pride in every mount that comes through the shop.

With Spring bear season starting in just a few weeks, I am working on getting critters back! I'm about halfway through deer and antelope. Waiting on some elk and moose forms, and those will be up next. Here are some amazing trophies that are going out the door! Thanks Jordan for entrusting me with this stunning bull! I'm always thrilled to help revive these cherished memories and creatures.

Despite the challenging hunting conditions this year, I'm optimistic that the cooler temperatures are coming and the bull will be screaming and bucks will be rubbing velvet off. Remember to prioritize getting your hides off the animal and bringing them in promptly.

It's opening day! We look forward to seeing what our great community will harvest this season.
Congratulations to all the successful spring bear hunters.

Hope everyone is having a good start to hunting season!

Im often getting asked “ where do I cut “ or statements like “I hope you can fix this I couldn’t remember where to cut”.

Here is a really good demonstration of where to skin your trophy. This works for all animals that you want rugged, half life size, or life size.

Some tips for trophy care include

- DO get the hide off the animal as soon as you can ( the carcass holds heat, and the hide traps that heat causing your trophys hair to slip (fall out).

- DO get your hide to me or your local taxidermist ASAP. If you cant, stick it in the fridge if you and if you can’t meet within 24hrs of harvest and being in the fridge put it in the freezer.

- DONT salt your hide! It makes it really hard to prep your hide to get a really nice trophy.

- DONT let your trophy hide sit in water!

LASTLY!!!!! Get out there and have fun! Hunting can be a source of inspiration for others, great memories and it’s just plain fun being in the outdoors!
