Senior dogs donā€™t always tell us when something is changing. Sometimes, they show us in the smallest ways. ā¤ļøšŸ¾

Taking a little longer to get up. Hesitating at the stairs. Sleeping more. Becoming confused in a familiar room. Or simply not getting as excited about something they once loved.

Those little changes are worth noticing.

Today weā€™re introducing The Frosted Dog Senior Dog Guide ā€” a new educational series dedicated to helping all of us better understand, support and advocate for the senior dogs we love.

Weā€™ll talk about mobility, nutrition, hydration, dental health, cognitive changes, making our homes safer, traveling with senior dogs, quality of life and much more.

Because getting older doesnā€™t mean our dogs should stop living.

It means sometimes they need us to understand them a little better. ā¤ļø

Piperā€™s story continues. ā¤ļøšŸ¾

Iā€™m incredibly honored to share that Piper has been selected to be part of REWRITTEN: Stories of Second Chances, an exhibition at the Jessie Ball duPont Center in Jacksonville, Florida.

Piper came from the Jacksonville Humane Society and went on to become so much more than a rescue dog. He became my best friend, the inspiration behind Frosted Dog, and proof of just how extraordinary a second chance can become.

Now his portrait and his story will live alongside other dogs whose lives were rewritten through rescue.

The exhibition will be on display through October 2026, and Iā€™m going to do everything I can to get back to Jacksonville and stand in front of Piperā€™s portrait myself.

I canā€™t adequately explain what it means to me to know that Piper is still touching lives.

His life ended. His story didnā€™t. ā¤ļø

They may move a little slower. They may need a stroller sometimes. They may have a little more gray around the face.

But they still have so much life to liveā€”and so much love to give.

Kia reminds me every day why senior dogs deserve to be seen, celebrated, and given every opportunity to enjoy their golden years.

This is what dog dementia looks like. Piper would forget heā€™s eating mid-mealā€¦ sometimes he wanders off, sometimes he just freezes. I would guide him back gently, again and again, because thatā€™s what love looks like at 18.5.ā€
