is a 501 (c)3 organization created in 1999 with the goal of building an animal shelter for dogs and cats in Stone County, AR. We completed that goal in August 2016 with the opening of our new 3,000 sf shelter building. Our organization is managed by an 11 member board and we have 4 part-time paid employees and one full-time shelter manager who help feed and care for the animals. We are located at

17379 Hwy 9, Mountain View, AR 72560. We have limited space but we do not euthanize to make room for another animal. We try to place all our animals in the right loving home as soon as possible after spaying and neutering and complete vetting. The doors keep revolving as one leaves another comes so we are usually in full capacity at all times. We can care for about 25 to 30 dogs at any one time and about 20 to 25 cats. An appointment must be made to surrender an animal please call the shelter 870-269-5200 and leave a message and someone will return your call. The shelter is open daily for adoptions from 2 to 5 PM and mornings by appointment only. Our dog adoption fee is $100, our fee for a Paws in Prison trained dog is $200, and cat adoption fee is $75. You can complete an online application found on our website at schspets.org and someone will contact you once received. You can see all our dogs and cats ready for adoption at petfinder.com and adoptapet.com. You can make online donations on the website as well or go to PayPal.com enter our email address of [email protected] and send a general donation to help meet our monthly bills as well as donate right here on FB. We also take cash or checks at the shelter or you can mail your check to SCHS, 17379 Highway 9, Mountain View, AR 72560. We provide low cost spay/neuter for the community pets so call the shelter to find out about our various programs and cost.

Pure Bliss...
Ada is a sucker for belly rubs and this is what it looks like when she gets one. She has been at the shelter for 1,461 days. Yep, she was surrendered to our care 4 YEARS AGO TODAY. We love her dearly but she needs a life outside of this place! Ada is shy but the sweetest and she needs a patient person willing to work with her. Please share this and help to find her a home!

Happy Tails...
Leroy is energetic and ready for action! He will alert you when anyone is approaching and will always be on the look-out. Leroy will take a little time to get used to you because he was raised in a small pen with no socialization, but don’t let that stop you from taking this sweet hound dog home. He will make a wonderful pet for any patient person looking for a companion.

Tito, the boy who was almost someone’s dog. But the plans fell apart. Such is life. But that means the right home is still out there. And hey, you might be living in it. Tito would make a fine choice for a best friend and hang out guy. He’s chipper, smart, and very friendly. He loves being with people and gets along with other animals…dogs, cats, and even goats. Tito is athletic, quick and has amazing eyes. He’s a mix. Looks like Catahoula and a bully breed to me. If you’re looking for running buddy who will go to the ends of earth with you, here he is.

Malfoy is a VERY handsome boy with his speckled nose and one blue eye. He loves attention and is also playful and curious. He has a gentle, calm nature and gets along with most other dogs. He is neutered, house trained and fully vaccinated. Malfoy even knows a few basic commands and rides well in the car! Come meet him today and see what a wonderful dog he is!
