Mr Wigglesworth is our current face of dementia. We’ve tried the supplements, diets, and prescription drugs but it’s progressing so rapidly. He spends his days looking for corners to stand or places to get stuck. His evenings with Sundowners are spent walking the house. Last night I picked him up and held him tight to my chest, he gave a giant exhale and went to sleep. He slept a solid 6 hours on me. I’ve got a baby wrap that I’ll try tonight so I can sleep too. As long as he is snuggled tightly, it seems to subdue the walking urges.

Taking a quick moment to introduce you to our LGD, Sweet Fancy Moses (Bear). He is 7 years old and was surrendered to a bite-works kennel in Utah because his military dad was deploying. After many lengthy conversations about our needs/situation, I drove down to see him. The first pick is his adoption photo and you can tell he’s matted to the skin! Three days of shaving and we have a much happier dog!

He’s a big boy at 185 #! He stays inside during the day and outside at night. He is impeccably trained and aware of his size with the littles. I’ve only fallen over him once forgetting that I had him!

He’s VERY protective of me and has already let a solicitor know to respect the No Trespassing sign.

He has the respect of the big livestock - helping me when the cows got out and completely ignores the chickens, ducks, turkeys. We couldn’t have asked for a better fit in our family.

Peanut, 17 years old, had a seizure at 1:30 yesterday morning. The seizure only lasted a few minutes but her recover time took 2.5 hours(in the past with other dogs it’s 20-30 minutes). She rested comfortably all day (typically sleeps 90% of the day) until she had another seizure at 3:30pm which took her almost 12 hours to recover. Richard stayed up with her all night❤️. Her bloodwork is normal and diagnosing the cause of the seizures is limited due to our funds and her age.

I struggled with what decisions to make and knowing the right timing. We’re currently treating her with what the doctor calls a “shotgun” approach with multiple medications hoping one will fix what’s wrong.

Peanut is a dog unique to herself. The idea of not hearing her toenails “tippy tap” on the floor is heartbreaking. Please keep her in your prayers.

Our sweet Annie went to the vet yesterday because she’s become very selective about eating. I wanted to make sure that she didn’t have an issue with her mouth that was causing pain. The vet confirmed that it is the progression of her liver failure.

My heart and head cannot seem to grasp this because outwardly, she looks healthy and hasn’t lost any weight. This is probably the toughest decision I’ll ever have to make.
