Phoenix update for Saturday! Dr. Rosie Stolzer just called me and said that her calcium levels are back to normal range. They gave her a shot that forces the calcium that's floating around in her bloodstream into her bones and that will continue to get better as the week goes on. They're hoping that the calcium buildup is from the tick disease and that the doxycycline will help with that also. They said there are several different things that could also be causing it but they're starting out with the simple ones and since she responded so well to that, we're hoping that that's what's going on. She actually went on a walk outside with them on a leash and rolls over on her back to get the mousse antibacterial foam rubbed on her belly! As much as I hate her being gone from here, it's been good for her to get used to other people handling her and her trusting them! I don't have any pictures because when I showed up to see her. It was typical Saturday morning bedlam at the main clinic with lots of people waiting to be seen. No worries I know she's in good hands! Hopefully get to take her home on Monday? Paw crossed.!

Update on our girl Phoenix! I came and visited her for about an hour today before she had to do her treatments and she's doing great. Dr Cliburn still working on getting her calcium levels down but she's eating and drinking and we'll just take it a couple days at a time. I might be able to bring her home next week and do steroid injections once a day. While they wait to be able to test her for Addison's disease. We're hoping that some of the elevated calcium levels are due to her tick borne disease she tested positive to! She sure has warmed up to the care staff and ate out of their hands!

I haven't been feeling much like decorating this year but today it was a good distraction from missing Phoenix while she is gone to stay at the vet til at least the weekend.

UPDATE From vet on Phoenix.
She’s got a UTI and ehrlichia tick disease positive. Hoping that is causing calcium to be high. Baseline cortisol was low normal. She can’t test for Addison’s disease for a few weeks after prednisone is given.

UPDATE I'm headed out to spend a little time with her now and get the scoop! Dr Cliburn started her on some meds. Paws crossed!
Turns out our Phoenix girl isn't feeling well. I took her in to All Creatures Main Clinic this a.m. at opening and Dr Cliburn saw her along with Kimber and another great Vet Tech. Don't worry, aunt Penny Oxford was with her too! She did so good having blood drawn tested for Pavo, etc. She has a temp of 103 and extremely high elevated calcium. They are hoping that it's something called Addison's disease which affects her adrenal gland and is treated with steroids. They were going to run a bunch more test and I had to leave her which broke my heart. I know she is in the best hands but please keep her wellbeing close to your heart and send up all the positive energy. Dr. Cliburn was running a bunch of tests and will call hopefully today!
