Random not aussie related post
I manage a local boarding/daycare facility and occasionally we have clients that ask for help finding a home for a dog that we have enrolled and we try to help. And then we also get random pleas to take in a dog. .
We had an older gentlemen contact the facility saying he had a dog that someone had dumped on a reservation in Owyhee county. He had been feeding her for a couple weeks and noticed her belly was getting bigger. He didn't want puppies so his ultimatum was someone takes her or he shoots her. 😖 I said to go ahead bring her in.
2 types of dogs have my heart, Boxers and cow dogs such as heelers and aussies. When I came in to see her, I fell in love. She appears to be a heeler/Aussie or Shepherd cross, maybe just over a year old. In order to bring her home I had to vaccinate her which is not ideal in pregnant females but we have to be safe at home. She was also covered in ticks so she was treated for them as well and dewormed. We took her to get an x ray to see how many babies we should be expecting and were told 6. We were also told she has a bullet in her back! 😤 Someone has already shot her.
I don't know why she was treated how she was, she hasn't chased our horses, gets along with pretty much every dog of all sizes and the cats, and doesn't bark much. She needs to learn some house manners but I'm guessing she didn't live inside. She is the absolute sweetest girl. She has been named Nakoma meaning "great warrior" and she will be staying with us for good.
Now she has 6 babies who will need the most loving homes at the end of this month. I'm guessing daddy to these little fluffs is a husky, they sure have the looks, curly tails, and some have blue eyes. They will need active families who will take the time to train. Their adoption fee is low 🐶🐶🐶 to help cover Mom and pups vetting and food and Mom's spay once they have left. These babies are being raised with the same love and care as our boxers and Aussies and are becoming quite the little social butterfly's.
