Application to adopt is required, adoption fee is also required upon approval to adopt from our rescue.
We do not neuter male kittens before the age of 6 months, if you wish to have your female kitten spayed prior to adoption we can arrange that.

Late night kitten post while I’m up doing a feed. We have 4 week olds!

Anyone who has followed this rescue knows that there is one kitten missing. Unfortunately I did lose one of the boys to fading kitten syndrome. He declined so quickly and sharply there really wasn’t time to figure out what was going on. From the time I realized I needed to separate him from the litter to be safe it was only a couple of hours more before he passed. Of course an unknown cause of FKS is any orphan rescues worst fear, because there’s always the chance that the other kittens could have gotten a virus from the fading kitten.

These guys came to me at less than a day old so they didn’t get Mom’s colostrum, making that fear even larger. Thankfully they do all appear to be just fine.

They’re getting so big! Walking, playing, and all talking to each other. This is one of my favorite kitten phases as they all discover how to cat. It’s adorable.

Our tiniest beans have hit three weeks old. 🥳

They’re all doing great and thriving. I didn’t have the highest of hopes for this litter when I got them. Less than a day old, still passing meconium, they hadn’t received colostrum, and I’d had 4 of the litter for an entire day before they even found the 5th kitten. Every odd was against these guys. To have not lost a single one is absolutely incredible.

And to think when they came to me they were less than a day old! The orphaned litter is 2 weeks old today. 🥳🥳

Dark Side of the Meow is a cat and kitten rescue located in Baxter County Arkansas that specializes in the rescue of orphaned kittens and geriatric strays.

With a mission to provide love, warmth, and excellent care to the weakest cats in our community we pride ourselves on the care we provide to every cat that passes through our door.

We are in the process of becoming a nonprofit organization, but for now we wanted to create this page to allow you to follow along with our cats and have the opportunity to reach out about adopting kittens when they become old enough to go to their forever home.
