Mount Vernon, Texas Animal Shelter The Mount Vernon Animal Shelter is happy to match available pets with loving families. The Shelter is run by the City of Mount Vernon, TX.

The Mount Vernon, TX Animal Shelter is the temporary home for dogs and cats in Franklin County. We are in partnership with PAWS of Franklin Co., TX, a 501c3 organization and the citizens of Franklin County. We strive to reunite every pet with its family. In the event a pet isn't reclaimed within three days, animals are available for adoption. Shelter hours are M-F 8:00am-5:00pm. Please call the shelter at 903-588-3030 to report your missing pet or to make arrangements to view animals.

Thank you to everyone who is taking part in Goose's journey from the shelter, fosters, volunteers, transports, and to the rescue LET LOVE LIVE ❤️. We believe all efforts will take Goose to the future he's always deserved! In a true home filled with love and joy ✨

🐾 FOUND DOG – HELP US FIND HIS FAMILY 🐾
This sweet guy quite literally showed up on foot at the shelter this evening. As we were closing the gates for the day, he came running up to Sherlyn as if he knew exactly where to go for help.
You can tell he's been doing some traveling and has likely been on quite the adventure. Earlier this week, I saw a post about a dog matching his description showing up at Tom Scott's Lumber Yard, and it was believed the owner had been located.
If this is your dog, or if you know who he belongs to, please contact the shelter as soon as possible so we can get him safely back home where he belongs. ❤️

Bucket donations came to save the day! 🪣 Our dogs are provided with water during their outside play time!

Thank you to all our donators we were able to provide new water buckets for all of our dogs to stay fresh outside 🐕💧

We are always needing 2 gallon stainless steel buckets with the handle, the animal shelter and our furry friends would really appreciate it! ❤️

DOG OF THE WEEK: CUPID 🖤🦴

Cupid is 247 days old, He has been at the shelter for 247 days. That's right Cupid's ever only lived in a shelter setting, he was one of eight puppies born at the shelter. All the puppies have now been adopted except baby cupid! But he doesn't know his home is a shelter he is as happy as a puppy can be sharing play time with his best friend Pikochu!

All he needs is someone who will give him a chance and he'll shoot an arrow straight through your heart! 🏹💘

Cupid's adoption fee is $55 he is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and comes with a free adoption package included in the cost! 🫶🏼

One of our goals at the shelter is to cover our walls with the beautiful faces and stories of adopted pets who found their forever homes.
Every adoption or rescue tells a story of love, second chances, redemption, and the incredible bond between people and animals. We want visitors to walk through our doors and be reminded that every pet deserves a happy ending.
