Meet Ira, your compact Belgian Malinois with old soul energy

DOB: 2-1-2022

Ira is currently here at Rocket Dog Academy getting structure, training, and real world reps while he waits for his person. If you want a dog with personality, brains, and a calm thoughtful vibe, Ira might be your guy. He is smaller framed with a sweet frosted muzzle, but he is still all Malinois in the best way. He loves having a job, loves being included, and builds a strong bond with his handler.

What Ira loves:
Nosework and scent games
Hiking and outdoor adventures
Training and learning
Toy engagement and working with his person
Mental stimulation and being part of the team

He will thrive as:
Hiking companion
Nosework or scent sport dog

Active, structured companion

Ira already knows recall, place, and pretty, with great focus and toy engagement. Like many smart working dogs, he can get curious and follow his nose, so he does best with someone who can calmly redirect and keep the conversation going.

Dog social notes
He is generally neutral with most dogs but tends to come in enthusiastic on intros, so structured introductions are important. Best home is no cats or small pets.

This is Stella, She’s gone from overstimulated and unsure to calmer, clearer, and way more confident. With consistent communication and clear boundaries, she’s learning how to channel her energy and stay neutral in situations that used to hype her up.

She’s still learning, but she shows up and tries harder every day and we’re really proud of her progress at Rocket Dog Academy. 🐾

Today we pause for the ones who never got to come home.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance, gratitude, and honoring the lives that were given in service. We recognize the sacrifice made, and we carry deep respect for the families who live with that loss every day.

Rocket Dog Academy showed up BIG at the Northwest Cluster Rally Trial in Lynden last weekend.

We brought 33 Rocket Dog teams to the ring, with about 130 total entries overall. So many qualifying scores, new titles earned, and strong teamwork all weekend. We also had a blast cheering each other on and celebrating every run together.

Zeke bo**ie training!

We’re helping him get used to wearing them so his paws stay protected, especially on hot surfaces that can burn little dog feet.

He can still wiggle them off pretty easily, but overall he’s doing a great job and getting more comfortable each session. Small steps, lots of reps, big progress.

Fido Fit Day Training Supervised playtime, the Rocket Dog way 🐾

This is what we love to see during Fido Fit day training: dogs earning play through structure first.
Then they get short, supervised play sessions with well matched friends. We keep it safe, controlled, and purposeful so dogs build real social skills.
