The Drying Shed is filling up faster than ever. This space is so full of joy and hope for me—I can’t wait to open it to you all every September! Gardens are full of surprises. Today marks the record for the earliest everlasting flower harvest! While prepping to sow my safflower seed I discovered my overwintered cress crop had the first stems ready for cutting this morning. Filling the drying shed is my absolute favorite part of what I do here. I’m not sad about starting a little earlier than usual!

Whew! It’s been a whirlwind around here! Cold hardy annuals are in the ground and growing and I’m prepping to start direct sowing the last few open rows. Dahlias are just starting to pop up (I overwintered them in the ground for the first time!). Warm season annuals are growing beautifully in the greenhouse and will be headed to the flower cart the first week of May. I still haven’t cleaned out the drying shed. 🤭 Maybe this week?
