October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and businesses all around Siskiyou County are showing their support by turning their storefronts PINK!

And Clarity Medical Spa in Yreka did NOT disappoint! 🎀💕

Balloons, streamers, pink everywhere you look... and one very happy Griff who was more than willing to pose for a picture in the middle of it all! 😂🐾

But behind all the pink is a message that matters.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder to support those fighting, celebrate survivors, remember those we've lost, and encourage the conversations and screenings that can save lives. 💗

We love seeing our local businesses come together to bring attention to something that has touched so many families in our community.

A huge thank you to Dr. Rachel Dunn-Black and her awesome team at Clarity Medical Spa for the warm welcome and for helping spread awareness in such a fun, beautiful way! ❤️

Three dogs. Three graduations. And a whole lot of new adventures ahead! 🎓🐾

This might look like a typical lunch outing at one of our favorite Mount Shasta spots, Pipeline. But there’s a whole lot of training happening in this picture!

Ira has Indy relaxing under her chair. Jen has Canelo settled beside her. And just outside the frame, Kindle is behind the camera with Drake hanging out next to her chair. ❤️

All three of these awesome dogs graduated from their Freedom K9 Board & Train programs this week! 🎉

One of the things we love doing is getting our Board & Train dogs out together for real-world experiences like this.

These outings give our trainers the opportunity to collaborate, challenge each other, share observations, and work through different distractions and situations together. They also give our dogs valuable practice learning to relax, remain engaged with their handlers, and make good choices while the world carries on around them.

Because sometimes the most impressive thing a dog can do is... absolutely nothing. 😉

No begging at the table. No needing to greet everyone who walks by. No constant entertainment. Just being comfortable, confident, and content hanging out with their people.

And THAT is where the bigger picture comes in.

We aren't training dogs just to perform commands. We're helping create opportunities for them and their owners to experience more of life together.

☕ Coffee dates.
🍽️ Lunch with friends.
🏕️ Camping trips and adventures.
🐾 Everyday outings that become easier and more enjoyable.

For Indy, Canelo, and Drake, graduation isn't the finish line. It's the beginning of putting everything they've learned into practice with the people who love them most.

To their owners, thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey. We can't wait to see where life takes you and your dogs next. ❤️

And to our training team, thank you for the time, patience, teamwork, and dedication you pour into these dogs. It shows.

🎓 Congratulations, Indy, Canelo, and Drake! We're so proud of you!

The goal isn’t a dog who listens just during structured training sessions...
It’s a dog you can actually enjoy taking places. ❤️🐾

Whinnie and Rue are currently enrolled in our Liberty Off-Leash Day Training Program, and we absolutely loved stopping by Shyla’s business and seeing them there with her, practicing their good manners and putting their new obedience skills to work.

THIS is what we love to see. 👏

Training shouldn’t only work when the trainer is holding the leash. The real win is watching our clients take what their dogs are learning and make it part of everyday life.

At work. Around town. On adventures. At home.

The more those skills become part of normal life, the more freedom you get to actually enjoy life with your dog. ❤️

Keep up the great work, Shyla! It was so good seeing you, and of course Whinnie and Rue! ❤️😊

If your goal is to be able to do more WITH your dog, we’d love to help you get there.

🐾 GERMAN SHEPHERD TAKEOVER AT FREEDOM K9! 🐾

🚨 WARNING: Cuteness overload with a whole lot of brains, loyalty, and personality! 🚨

What happens when you get FIVE German Shepherds together in one photo? 📸🐕

A whole lot of ears, a little bit of attitude, and FIVE dogs who probably think they’re the smartest ones in the room! 😂

German Shepherds are known for their intelligence, loyalty, work ethic, and BIG personalities. But here’s something we love showing people at Freedom K9…

Even though they’re the same breed, no two German Shepherds are alike! ❤️

Some are confident and outgoing, some need a little help finding their confidence, some have endless energy, and others are perfectly happy relaxing and watching the world go by.

That’s what makes dog training so rewarding! We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We believe in understanding the dog in front of us, building a relationship, creating clear communication, and helping each dog become the best version of themselves.

And let’s be real… there’s nothing quite like a German Shepherd giving you that famous head tilt! 🤣🐾

🐕 NOW WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! 👇

Are you a German Shepherd lover? ❤️

Tell us in the comments:
🐾 What’s your German Shepherd’s name?
🐾 What’s their BIGGEST personality trait?
🐾 Are they the serious working type or a complete goofball at home? 😂

📸 BONUS POINTS if you drop a picture of your German Shepherd in the comments! We want to see them all!

❤️ Give these FIVE beautiful Shepherds some love!

This isn’t just our new favorite piece of decor. It’s a pretty awesome example of what happens when a community supports its own. ❤️🐾

Our new handcrafted dog house has officially found its home between the rose bushes in front of our Resort, and we LOVE it!

We brought it home from the Siskiyou Humane Society Garden Party Fundraiser, but the story behind it makes it even better.

This dog house was handcrafted by Leo Martinez as part of the Mount Shasta High School Senior Project Class of 2026, under the mentorship of Zack Jimenez and Old Shasta Builders, and then donated to help raise money for the Siskiyou Humane Society.

That’s a whole lot of local good wrapped up in one not-so-little dog house. ❤️

A local student learning a trade.
Local professionals investing their time and knowledge into the next generation.
A fundraiser supporting animals in our community.
And a local business getting the opportunity to support all of it.

That’s the kind of cycle we want to keep going!

We’re incredibly proud to support organizations like the Siskiyou Humane Society and the people in our community who give their time, talent and resources to make Siskiyou County a better place for people AND their animals.

Now this awesome dog house gets to sit front and center as a reminder of exactly that.

If you’re stopping by, keep an eye out between the roses. 🌹🐶 We think it found the perfect home. ❤️

**Do you know any of the talented people who helped bring this masterpiece to life?**

Tag them below, tell us how you know them, and give them some well-deserved props! 👏❤️ We’d love for the people behind this project to see just how appreciated their work is.

🎓🐾 CONGRATULATIONS, MILO! 🐾🎓

Milo has officially graduated from our Off Leash Board & Train Program! 🇺🇸

When Milo first arrived at Freedom K9, his family had some pretty big goals. They wanted more than a dog who simply knew commands—they wanted a dog they could enjoy life with.

Milo struggled with impulse control, marking in the home, becoming overly fixated on cats, and appropriately existing around other dogs. His family wanted to be able to take him hiking, boating, out in public, and on adventures without constantly worrying about what Milo might do next.

Throughout his time with us, we focused on giving Milo the clarity, structure, communication, and skills he needed to make better choices.

🐾 Reliable off-leash obedience & recall
🐾 Better leash manners
🐾 Self-control and impulse control
🐾 Calm, appropriate behavior around other dogs
🐾 Learning to exist around distractions without needing to engage
🐾 Better household manners, including addressing marking
🐾 Confidence and manners for public outings
🐾 The skills to become the adventure companion his family wanted

And now… look at him! ❤️

Graduation isn’t the end of Milo’s training—it’s the beginning of his family getting to enjoy everything they’ve worked toward. The hikes. The boat rides. The trips. The everyday outings. And most importantly, having clearer communication and a better relationship with their dog.

👏 Congratulations, Milo and family! We are incredibly proud of how far you’ve come and can’t wait to see all the adventures ahead!

Does Milo’s story sound a little like your dog? Maybe you’re avoiding walks, leaving your dog home from adventures, struggling with reactivity, poor manners, or simply wishing you had more control.

You don’t have to settle for managing the problem forever. Let’s start working toward the dog you want to live life with.

**Tell us you’re a Corgi person without telling us you’re a Corgi person. 😂**

Melissa and Bethany showed up to our Anniversary Party in completely unplanned matching Corgi energy.

Bethany: **“Easily Distracted by Corgis.”**
Melissa: **“I’ve Got Friends in Low Places.”**

We couldn’t have planned this better if we tried. 😂

One of the coolest things we’ve watched happen at Freedom K9 over the years has very little to do with dog training.

**Dogs bring people together.** ❤️

Clients meet at pack walks, classes and events. They start talking about their dogs, realize they have a whole lot more in common, and friendships are made.

Sometimes all it takes is a shared love of dogs.

Or, apparently, a borderline unhealthy obsession with Corgis. 😂

We love the community that has grown around Freedom K9 just as much as we love the dogs who started it.

**Have you met a forever friend through Freedom K9?** 🐾❤️

Tag them in the comments and tell us how you met. We’d love to hear the friendships that started because of a dog. 👇

🎓 Meet Apollo — Could This Puppy Have a Future as a Service Dog? 🐕‍🦺

At just 5 months old, Apollo already has some pretty big goals ahead of him! 👀

Apollo is an adorable Australian Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd mix who joined us to build the foundation his owner needs for a well-rounded, reliable puppy — with hopes that one day, Apollo may even have what it takes to become his Service Dog. ❤️

But before advanced training comes the foundation.

During Apollo’s puppy training, we focused on:

🐾 Crate training
🐾 Potty training
🐾 Sleeping through the night
🐾 Basic obedience
🐾 Good manners and impulse control
🐾 Learning not to chase deer and wildlife
🐾 Building the skills to become a confident, well-rounded puppy

And Apollo’s journey with Freedom K9 is far from over!

His owner is already planning to bring him back for our Off Leash Board & Train, where we’ll continue building on everything he has learned and take his training to the next level. 🙌

When you have big goals for your dog, starting young matters. Puppy training isn’t about expecting perfection — it’s about creating the foundation you’ll continue building on as they grow.

We’re excited to see what the future holds for this smart little guy. 💙

🎉 Congratulations, Apollo! This is only the beginning.

10 years. ❤️

I’m not sure I can fully put into words what it felt like to look around at our anniversary party and see so many of the people who have been part of Freedom K9 over the years. Some of you stayed the full two hours and some stopped by for a hug. All 50+ were so appreciated.

To everyone who came out to celebrate with us, thank you. Thank you for taking time out of your day, for the hugs, the kind words, the stories, the laughs, and for reminding me just how many incredible people and dogs have become part of our pack because of this little business I started 10 years ago.

And to every single person who has trusted me and Freedom K9 with their dog over the last decade, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for trusting us with your family members. Your service dogs. Your difficult dogs. Your puppies. Your adventure buddies. The dogs who changed your lives and, in many cases, changed ours too.

Thank you for coming back year after year. For showing up to pack walks. For sending me updates long after formal training ended. For stopping me around town to tell me how your dog is doing. For recommending Freedom K9 to your friends, family, coworkers, and sometimes complete strangers.

So much of this business has been built through word of mouth, and I don’t take that lightly. Every time you recommend Freedom K9 to someone, you’re trusting us to take care of them the way we took care of you, and that means more to me than I can express.

There have been a lot of changes, lessons, long days, incredible dogs, amazing people, and more memories than I could ever fit into one post over these 10 years.

What started as a fun hobby and side business in 2016 has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of. I also know that Freedom K9 would not be what it is today without the people who believed in us and continued to support us.

Seeing so many of you at our anniversary celebration was a pretty special reminder of that.

Thank you for 10 years of trust, encouragement, recommendations, friendship, and dogs. Lots and lots of dogs. ❤️🐾

I’m incredibly grateful for all of it.

Here’s to whatever the next 10 years bring.
