🚨 MT. PLEASANT DESERVES BETTER — SAY NO TO THE PROPOSED ASPHALT PLANT! 🚨
🐾 Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital stands for the health, safety, and well-being of our community, both two-legged and four-legged! 🐾
Our beautiful rural community is home to families, farms, pets, livestock, wildlife, orchards, and the natural beauty that makes this area so special. We believe protecting the health of our community means protecting the environment we all share.
The proposed asphalt plant raises serious concerns that deserve careful consideration before this rural landscape is changed.
🌿 WHY ARE WE CONCERNED?
💨 AIR QUALITY: Asphalt production can release particulate matter, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other air pollutants. Exposure to air pollution can contribute to respiratory irritation and aggravate existing heart and lung conditions.
🐶 THE HEALTH OF OUR PETS: Our dogs, cats, and other companion animals breathe the same air we do. Animals with respiratory conditions, as well as young and senior pets, deserve special consideration when evaluating potential environmental exposures.
🐴 LIVESTOCK & HORSES: Farm animals depend on clean air, clean water, and healthy surroundings. Potential exposure to airborne dust and pollutants deserves thorough evaluation to protect the animals and the people who care for them.
🦋 WILDLIFE & THE ENVIRONMENT: Rural ecosystems are interconnected. We must carefully consider the potential effects of emissions, dust, runoff, and industrial activity on local wildlife, vegetation, soil, and water resources.
👃 ODORS & QUALITY OF LIFE: Asphalt production can create strong, unpleasant odors that may affect nearby homes, farms, outdoor spaces, and businesses.
🚛 INCREASED TRUCK TRAFFIC: An industrial operation may bring additional heavy truck traffic, noise, diesel exhaust, road wear, and safety concerns to rural roads used by families, cyclists, and people transporting animals.
🌳 OUR RURAL CHARACTER: The peaceful landscape, agricultural heritage, fresh air, and natural beauty of Mt. Pleasant are valuable assets worth protecting. We must carefully weigh any proposed industrial development against its potential long-term impact on our community.
❤️ THIS IS ABOUT PREVENTION, NOT PANIC.
We recognize that the actual health and environmental impacts depend on the specific facility, its emissions, its controls, and its location. That is precisely why residents deserve transparent information, independent environmental review, and meaningful public input BEFORE decisions are made.
As an animal hospital, we care deeply about the health of every living being in our community. Our pets cannot speak at public meetings. Our wildlife cannot voice their concerns. And our future generations deserve a healthy place to call home.
