Cat Committee volunteers were blessed to participate in the rescue of a kitten, now called Blizzard, from a storm drain at the East Huntington Dairy Queen.
This post is not to toot our own horn, but to gratefully acknowledge the love and support our community showed for a little one in distress.
JR and Cindy arrived at DQ to find another person already there, followed immediately by the East Huntington VFD.
A number of others arrived, some who have experience in animal rescue, and some who just wanted to be the "someone" who shows up when help is needed.
Fire department removed the grate, we set a trap, and then just waited for the kitten to do his part.
It took about 2 1/2 hours altogether.
Blizzard is safe with The Cat Committee, and appears healthy.

Cat Committee afternoon volunteers are very grateful to the mystery person in a gray truck, who kindly hauled our trash cans to the curb this afternoon!

Come one come all to a spookiest good time. Tickets are now on sale for our Paws-N-Play on October 23, 2026 at 6pm at the Saint Pius School Hall. Tickets are $30 each with dinner included. Hi everyone, I am called Mr. Magoo mainly due to my beautiful blue eyes being crossed. But I see purrfectly well. I was rescued by the nice people at the Cat Committee with a lot of wounds. I have some neat fur patterns on my chest as a result. I, however, am not damaged or defective. I love people and love to cuddle and purr. I am told the I look like I am at least part Siamese due to my coloring but I don't know fur sure what that is so I say I am a pure bred cat. My mom was a cat and my dad was a cat so I am a pure bred cat. If you want a handsome, loving fellow in your life, here I am. Normally we would deem Wilbur too small to be adopted, but this beautiful young woman is one of our favorite vet techs. He's in good hands. Happy trails, tiny friend.

My Professor Fuzzypants has the best purr! It’s truly healing. Lyric is getting to know my cats while being fostered. She heard him and kept getting closer and closer.
