It is with heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of our baby, JohnnyBoy Spike "Spike". He led an amazing life for 13 1/2 years making others happy while serving as an AKC registered therapy dog. He brought tons of smiles to those he visited in nursing homes, hospitals and care facilities. Not to mention the joy he brought to his family, friends and even strangers he met on the street.
Spike was diagnosed with blood cancer in July 2022, so at that time we knew our time together was limited. But with medicines and special diets, he fought a strong seven month battle against the cancer. However, in the past couple weeks he grew tired and he wanted to rest.
Spike passed away at 5:00am this morning. His loving Mommy and Daddy were at his side and held him in their arms along with the compassionate and caring assistance of the staff at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital.
Spike will be greatly missed by so many who have followed his adventures, shenanigans and escapades on his Facebook and Instagram page. To those individuals, we say THANK YOU for your "Likes" and comments over the years.
Ironically, Spike crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on the same date as his older brother "Dude" (our previous beagle) passed 14 years ago.

While my humans were away and I was home alone for a few hours, a heavy gust of wind blew open the back storm door. When that happened the wind apparently pushed open the back door too. Being the inquisitive beagle that I am, I decided to follow my nose and venture outside. I guess it wasn't the best day weather wise to check out the neighborhood.
I don't really know how long I was outside but when one of my humans got home a few hours later, I surprised him because I was outside sitting on the front porch. I was a little wet and chilly, but he dried me off and wrapped me in a blanket to warm me up. Then he gave me lots of treats to make me feel better (or because he felt guilty). Either way, I'm not complaining.
In case anyone is wondering, yes, I am tagged and chipped.
