Good evening friends! Most of you are aware that the way this page works is the groomers send me photos to post. They let me know if there’s anything about the pet that you should know.
Well…our newest groomer Alex took the job seriously and sent me this gem.

“Rylie is a cavapoo, he speaks klingon and has several college swimming trophies in the 100 meter breaststroke”

Job well done Alex! Welcome to the family! 👏👏👏

Winston had a ruff start in life and he struggles a little bit with the grooming process, but he is the sweetest, most gentle young man. He does his best and that’s all we can ask.😘❤️🥰

It was a very slow photo day, so I will share with you some selfies. First, we have the Princess Zoey after her bath, next, we have Chase celebrating tongue out Tuesday, then Miss Chloe is supervising me from her waiting quarters, and finally my boyfriend Jagger! ❤️
If you would like your dog featured on this page, please tell your groomer on drop off. Very often the groomers are so busy that they don’t have the time to take the photos so I will do my best to get photos of your pup. Otherwise, you’re stuck with me.😜

WE ARE NOT “JUST” PET GROOMERS.

People see the cute haircuts, the bows, the wagging tails, and the freshly groomed dogs walking out of our salons. What they don’t see is what this profession does to our bodies and minds after years of doing what we love.

They don’t see the carpal tunnel, aching wrists, swollen hands, bad backs, damaged discs, stiff necks, sore shoulders, and aching knees. They don’t see us going home with numb fingers, muscle spasms, and pain that doesn’t always go away after a good night’s sleep.

They don’t see the bites, the bruises, the scratches, or the claw marks running down our arms. They don’t see us lifting heavy dogs, bending over tubs, standing for hours, or wrestling with a frightened 100-pound dog who has absolutely no intention of getting a bath today.

And they certainly don’t see the mental exhaustion.

Because we are not “just” pet groomers.

🐾 We are behaviorists, learning to read body language, recognize fear, anticipate reactions, and earn the trust of animals who cannot tell us what they’re feeling.

🐾 We are therapists, comforting anxious dogs, calming frightened puppies, and patiently helping senior pets through a process that may have become difficult for them.

🐾 We are nurses, noticing lumps, skin infections, ear problems, injuries, and changes in behavior that sometimes even their owners haven’t noticed.

🐾 We are artists, turning overgrown, tangled coats into beautiful transformations with skill, precision, creativity, and years of experience.

🐾 And sometimes, we are the last person to lovingly care for an aging pet before they cross the Rainbow Bridge. We remember those dogs. We grieve them, too.

We work with sharp tools around moving animals. We make hundreds of repetitive movements every single day. We put strain on our hands, backs, shoulders, and necks, often while trying to keep a nervous or uncooperative animal safe.

And through all of it, we are expected to remain patient, gentle, compassionate, and smiling.

Pet grooming is physically demanding, mentally exhausting, emotionally draining, and often misunderstood.

It takes more than knowing how to hold a pair of scissors or run a set of clippers. It takes patience, strength, knowledge, compassion, and a genuine love for animals.

After many in this profession, I can tell you that the wear and tear is real. Our bodies carry the evidence of decades spent caring for other people’s beloved pets.

But here’s the thing.

Despite the pain, the scratches, the bites, the difficult days, and the exhaustion, we still show up. We still talk sweetly to the nervous puppy. We still take extra time with the old dog who can’t stand very long. We still celebrate when a terrified rescue finally learns to trust us.

Because to us, they aren’t just appointments on a schedule. They’re living, breathing souls entrusted to our care.

So the next time someone says, “Oh, you’re just a dog groomer,” remember this:

We are skilled professionals who give our hearts, our patience, and quite literally our bodies to this profession.

We don’t just make dogs look pretty.

We care for them. We protect them. We comfort them. We love them.

And sometimes, we go home hurting because of it.

Please don’t ever call us “just” pet groomers. ❤️🐾
