When preparing for the winter months ahead, people tend to use fall to winterize their cars. This often involves changing fluids such as antifreeze, which can be deadly for pets. Part of the problem is ethylene glycol, a substance in antifreeze that has a sickly-sweet smell that entices pets to lap it up. Make sure to keep antifreeze away from your pets and clean up any spills!

🩸🐾 A little distraction can go a long way!

Blood draws aren’t always easy, especially for cats who are feeling fearful, anxious, or stressed. For this high-FAS (Fear, Anxiety & Stress) kitty, our nurses used a little teamwork, patience, and plenty of treats to help make the experience more comfortable.

Instead of simply getting the job done, we focus on how our patients experience the process. Using treats as a distraction can help create a more positive association while allowing our team to work calmly and efficiently.

This is just one example of what Fear Free care can look like at Blue Oasis — meeting each patient where they are and finding ways to make their visit a little less stressful. 💙🐱
