✨Spotlight✨
Everyone meet Doky!
This precious boy is 3 years old, and was adopted from Mexico in May 2025.
💔Doky had a rough start in life. His previous owners justified their abuse by calling it education. By the time he was rescued, he had already built such a protection wall around himself, and his way of keeping safe was to bite. He was in fight or flight every second of his life- when his adopter finally met the bat-eared, bouncy dog, she wondered if they brought the right dog, because the only pictures she had ever seen of him showed him cowering with his ears completely down. 💔
🤎Doky has made tremendous progress since his owner rescued him. Doky has never been a mean or aggressive dog. Despite everything, Doky still loves other dogs. He has scars that will forever tell a story of where he came from, but his heart has changed. Doky is snuggly, playful, loves running, and loves a good toy!
He was a dog trying to survive, a dog that needed someone to see him, and thankfully he has that now. 🤎
🔥Now, his owner and I both have no issue telling you that he is far from perfect. 😂 He is mischievous, and Doky IS reactive, specifically when on his leash. This is a common form of reactivity, one that can be incredibly scary to see. Like I’ve said before about reactive pups, they experience such a rush of emotions they don’t know what to do with, so they will lunge, bark, or in Doky’s case, find a target to release and that is his leash. 🔥
🌟I have been with Doky for a year now, and I could write a novel about the progress he has made, and about how much better our worlds are with him.
But I want to leave you with this for now:
There are so many wonderful, interesting things about Doky, and his moments of reactivity are at the bottom of the list. Doky deserves to live in a world where he doesn’t have reactivity, one where he is able to respond to things without fear.
Until then, he still deserves walks, and cuddles, and play time, and I’m honored to be able to give him those things safely. 🌟
Love you Doky!
