Its Monday!

When we as a rider have a poor and/or weak position it effects our horse's body.

It creates:
◇ Physical discomfort
◇ Muscular tension
◇ Pressure points
◇ Spinal compression
◇ Inhibits movement and restricts the back.
□ This can cause heavier foot fall putting unnecessary stress on the legs.

The end result is that our horse is not moving freely, in balance, and pain free.

While you may not be interested in showing it is extremely important to work with someone to make sure that you are riding in a correct position. Its not just for your comfort but for the well being of your horse.

Why is position so important when riding?

◇ Safety
◇ Balance
◇ Effective use of aids.

Can we come up with more? Of course we can. But these, in my opinion, are in the top 3. Whether trail riding or competing we should always strive to ride with the best position possible and strive to strengthen and improve it.

Now let's think about how our position effects our horse's body.
