🐾 Happy Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week! 🐾

This week, we want to take a moment to recognize three incredibly important members of the Mounds Veterinary Clinic family…Kim, Taylor, and Jaci. ❤️

Kim has dedicated an amazing 31 years to Mounds Veterinary Clinic, Taylor has been with us for 6 years, and Jaci is celebrating her first year with our clinic!

Our clinic simply could not operate without these ladies. Their attention to detail, caring hearts, hard work, and genuine love for both animals AND people are a huge part of what keeps Mounds Veterinary Clinic running every single day.

Veterinary medicine takes so much more than what you see in the exam room. These ladies are behind the scenes caring for patients, comforting worried owners, assisting our doctors, keeping things organized, and stepping in wherever they’re needed.

We are incredibly thankful for each of them and the different gifts they bring to our clinic.

Kim, Taylor & Jaci…thank you for everything you do for our patients, our clients, our doctors, and our Mounds Veterinary Clinic family. We appreciate you more than you know! 🐾❤️

Some people leave behind a business. Some leave behind a legacy. ❤️

One year ago Dr. Randy Sohl made his final trip through the town of Mounds, he was carried by his son, mules, and carriage to his resting place. Along the way, our community lined the streets to honor him.

It felt like a parade…and truthfully, that was exactly what he deserved.

In 1984, Dr. Sohl opened Mounds Veterinary Clinic and spent the years that followed caring for the animals and people of this community. But what he built here became so much more than a veterinary clinic. He built relationships, friendships, trust, and a legacy that will live on for generations.

Watching him make that final trip through the same town where he spent so much of his life serving others was something we will never forget.

Today, we are incredibly thankful that we get to continue what he started. Every animal we care for, every family who walks through our doors, and every day the doors of Mounds Veterinary Clinic open is another opportunity to honor the man who made all of this possible.

Dr. Randy Sohl may no longer be standing inside these walls, but his fingerprints are everywhere.

We hope we make you proud, Doc. ❤️

🐾 Would you know if your pet was hurting?

Dogs and cats can be surprisingly good at hiding pain. Sometimes the signs are much more subtle than crying or limping.

Watch for things like:
🐾 Suddenly not wanting to jump on furniture or use stairs
🐾 Sleeping more or becoming less social
🐾 Excessive licking of one particular area
🐾 Changes in appetite or bathroom habits
🐾 Acting unusually grumpy, restless, or clingy

You know your pet’s “normal” better than anyone. ❤️ If something just seems off, it’s worth paying attention to.

📞 Give Mounds Veterinary Clinic a call if you’re concerned. Sometimes the smallest changes can tell us a lot.

🐾 Friendly “Fall” Reminder from Mounds Veterinary Clinic 🍂

We’re all thankful for these “cooler temperatures”, but don’t let the change in weather fool you…heat stroke is still a very real and potentially deadly danger.

This is especially important for dogs that have spent most of the summer inside in the air conditioning because of the extreme heat. They may not be acclimated to spending extended periods outdoors yet, even though the temperatures feel better to us. Keep plenty of fresh water available, provide shade, limit strenuous activity, and watch closely for signs of overheating.

🐱 And cat owners…we need you to stay diligent, too! Cytauxzoonosis, often called “bobcat fever,” is showing up again. This serious tick-borne disease can be deadly to cats, so don’t stop tick prevention just because fall is approaching. Ticks can remain active well into cooler weather.

Cooler weather doesn’t mean we can let our guard down just yet. ❤️ A little prevention can make all the difference.
