The 2026 Appalachian Fair Dairy Show is now history. Lacy and Lexi did an outstanding job exhibiting Aspen Grove Jerseys. Among the accomplishments were class winners, Premier Exhibitor, Premier Breeder and 2nd place Breeders Herd.

Lacy also won blue ribbons for her hay and egg exhibit. A lot of tickets were sold for the Jersey calf being raffled to raise funds for the Tenn Jersey Juniors.

Next is Sevier County Fair and then Nashville Fair.

Greene and Hamblen Cow Shows 2026
The first two shows of 2026 are history. Lacy and Lexi have done an amazing job getting the cows and heifers ready to show (with a little help from mom and dad), and then presenting them in the show ring. They have received a number of blue ribbons/first placings in their classes, with Lexi sometimes beating her older sister.

After the judges at both shows had made their choices in the championship line-ups, Aspen Grove Chrome Caramel had won Senior Champion and Grand Champion Jersey at both shows. In addition she was named Supreme Champion at the Hamblen County show and Honorable Mention Supreme Champion at the Greene County show. She has now won Grand Champion two years in a row at Hamblen County and for three consecutive years at Greene County.

We received first place in the Breeders Herd competition at Greene County. In showmanship competition, Lexi received a first and a second place award, and Lacy has now won two first place awards so yar this year. Lacy also received the Premier Exhibitor award at Hamblen County.

Congratulations to Alison and Jenna for their Reserve Champion wins at both shows and Jenna's first placings in her showmanship class.

Lacy – 2026

Lacy is now in her fifth year of her activities in 4-H with her dairy project, and she has made amazing progress. Her hands-on involvement in the Aspen Grove Jersey operation has presented her with many opportunities to work with and learn about all aspects of dairying. She has assisted with daily milking, feeding and management of the herd, as well as helping with husbandry and health care activities. She has had the primary responsibility of feeding and caring for the younger heifers, which includes training them to a halter.

As she enters her freshman year of high school where she will continue her formal education, her willingness to watch and learn from our operation has allowed her to continue to receive an education in the field of dairy production. The knowledge that she has acquired includes husbandry practices, health care practices, management of all stages from baby calves to producing cows, nutrition, genetics, bull selection and breeding, fitting and exhibiting the cows and heifers, and milk production practices.

As 4-H June Dairy Month Chairman this year, she has been a great ambassador for the dairy industry in our county. She will continue to promote the Jersey breed and the dairy industry in the years ahead, not just locally but at the national level as she participates in the activities of the Tennessee Jersey Cattle Club and the American Jersey Cattle Association as a junior member.

Calvin is the latest arrival at Aspen Grove Jerseys. We have one more to finish up our 2026 calving season. Amazing how much lighter in color that they are after they are dried off after arrival.
