PAID Working Student Position in Ocala!
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking, and motivated Hunter/Jumper Working Student to join our professional sales and show barn in Ocala, Florida. Our program is focused on developing, marketing, and showing quality horses, with regular competition at WEC and HITS. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced hunter/jumper environment while further developing their grooming, riding, and show barn skills. Riding is NOT required but welcomed; Must be 18yo to apply.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and passionate about horse care, presentation, and competition. This full-time position includes housing, board and training for one horse, opportunities to horse show, and a stipend.
Responsibilities:
•Work along side our full time staff to provide daily care for horses, including grooming, tacking, untacking, bathing, clipping, wrapping, and turnout
•Maintain horses to a high standard of presentation suitable for a professional sales and show program
•Clean tack, grooming areas, and help maintain an organized, efficient barn environment
•Assist with schooling rides and riding duties as appropriate based on experience
•Prepare horses for training, trials, and competitions
•Attend and assist at horse shows, particularly WEC and HITS, including grooming, tacking, turnout, ring prep, packing, and general show support
•Work closely with trainers and staff to ensure horses are consistently presented at their best for clients and competition
Qualifications:
Prior experience in a hunter/jumper program required
Sales barn or competitive show barn experience strongly preferred
Strong grooming, horse handling, and turnout skills required
Riding ability preferred; capable flatting and jumping experience is a plus
Strong understanding of the standards and pace of a professional show environment
Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
Positive attitude, professionalism, and ability to work as part of a team
Must be comfortable in a busy, physically demanding environment
