As the seasons change, so do the risks for our furry companions. That's why it's crucial to keep up with year-round flea and tick prevention to ensure your pet stays safe and healthy all year long!

Fleas and ticks aren't just a nuisance—they can pose serious health risks to our pets, including skin irritation, allergic reactions, and the transmission of dangerous diseases like Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

Fortunately, there are many safe and effective options for flea and tick prevention available, including topical treatments, oral medications, and collars. We can help you choose the best option for your pet based on their lifestyle, health history, and risk factors.

By staying proactive with flea and tick prevention, you can protect your pet from discomfort and disease while enjoying peace of mind knowing they're happy and healthy by your side.

Don't let a missed dose put your pet at risk. Restock now through our online pharmacy and enjoy peace of mind all season: https://vistapawsmobilevetservices.securevetsource.com/index.pml

If you've adopted a dog rescued from Texas or the South, this post is for you.

According to the American Heartworm Society's newly released 2025 Heartworm Incidence Map, Texas has claimed the #1 spot for heartworm incidence in the U.S. for the very first time — with participating clinics averaging nearly 50 heartworm-positive dogs each.

Here in Colorado, we rescue a significant number of dogs from Texas and the South — and that means many of our beloved adoptees are coming from the highest-risk regions in the country.

The AHS estimates that at least 1.1 million dogs in the U.S. are currently heartworm positive. And here's the thing — heartworm disease shows little to no symptoms in its early stages. A dog can look perfectly healthy and still be infected.

What you should do:

-Test your dog for heartworm — especially if they were rescued from a southern state
-Start or stay current on year-round heartworm prevention
-Talk to your veterinarian if you're unsure of your dog's history

Colorado may feel far from the Gulf Coast, but rescued dogs don't come with clean slates. The best thing you can do for your new family member is test, prevent, and protect.

One of our favorite parts of mobile veterinary medicine in Littleton? The wildlife (and livestock!) we get to see along the way. 🦌🐄🦃

Between appointments, we’ve recently spotted deer grazing nearby, turkeys wandering through neighborhoods, and even a few cows enjoying the Colorado sunshine. Every day on the road brings something a little different, and we love getting to experience the beauty of Colorado while caring for pets in the comfort of home.

House calls with a side of scenic views and surprise animal sightings? We’ll take it.
