Good bye is a hard thing to say. It can be even harder when the decision must be made on when the right time is to say it. It never feels like the right time and we always seem to want more time if we can get it.
Yesterday we had to say good bye to one of our foundation mares and cornerstone of the farm Luna. Luna was a fantastic mom with a larger then life personality. She was a Verband States Premium mare which is the highest placing she can reach and originally was bred in Germany then imported to the United States while pregnant with her first baby. One of the judges commented on her during her daughters foal inspection and stated that the only thing wrong with her was that she was no longer in Germany.
She passed on her beauty and amazing technique to her offspring. She was also sure to pass on her love and self confidence to her children. From the covergirl of the GOV Oldenburg magazine when Ashanti stopped to smell the floors to multiple championships in the ring, her children show her fantastic type and mothering. Of course they each show their individuality and huge personalities to match their skills and movement.
Luna got reunited with her long time best friend, W***y, who was imported along side her. The first time they were united they stood on opposite sides of the fence from each other for several hours and didn’t want to move.
Luna loved everyone she met and particularly loved her butt scratched and her daily grain. We miss you Luna. We know that Smudge and Ebby are waiting for you and cannot wait to run by your side. We love you so much and always will. You are truly one of a kind and we know you will live forever in your kids the impact you made into this world. We love you Luna 🦄❤️
