Meet Christi, our jack of all trades in the clinic! Christi is technically one of our kennel team but wears many hats. On any given day you might find her in the kennel singing to our boarders, playing ball in the yard, in the middle helping during surgery, helping with treatments for your sweet babies, or running a mop across the floor! She can't say she loves one part of her job more than the others. Christi takes pride in knowing when clients come into the clinic it's clean and smells great. She shows love and compassion to our many patients and clients, all while making others laugh. Chrisi developed her love of animals while growing up on a farm in Central NC. She hit the floor running with the BPPAH team in Jan. of 2021. She has two children who are grown, Maddie and Mavrick, and they are her heart. She loves to go to the beach and enjoys working with her car! She is in 6 car clubs. She and her boyfriend have two cats, one who is completely blind (Phoebe) and one who is completely crazy (Little). If you see her come say hi, though she’ll probably beat you to it.

Hey! I’m Bly. I work as a veterinary assistant at Bridges Professional Park Animal Hospital. I have dreamed of working in veterinary medicine since I was young. I graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a bachelor’s degree in biology, but my next goal is to become an LVT. I have a dog of my own, who is my best friend. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends, family, and being on the boat!

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

We honor the innocent lives who were lost, the families who endured unimaginable heartbreak, and the brave first responders, firefighters, police officers, military members, and everyday heroes who showed extraordinary courage and selflessness.

We remember the strength, compassion, and unity that brought people together in the days that followed. May we continue to honor those we lost by remembering their lives, their families, and the heroes who never hesitated to help.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸🕊️

🐾 Why Is the Rabies Vaccine So Important?

Rabies is a serious and almost always fatal viral disease that affects the brain and nervous system. It can infect mammals, including dogs, cats, wildlife, and people.

Rabies is most commonly spread through the bite or scratch of an infected animal.

Vaccinating your pets against rabies is one of the most important things you can do to protect your pet, your family, and your community.

❤️ Protects your pet: Once signs of rabies develop, there is no effective treatment and the disease is almost always fatal.
Vaccination provides excellent protection.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Protects your family: Vaccinated pets are less likely to become infected and potentially expose the people they live with.

🦝 Helps protect the community: Pets can encounter infected wildlife such as raccoons, foxes, bats, and skunks—even when you aren't aware that an encounter occurred.

⚖️ It's the law: Rabies vaccination is legally required for dogs and cats in North Carolina. Keeping your pet's rabies vaccination current is not only responsible pet ownership—it is a legal requirement.

Remember: Even indoor-only pets can potentially be exposed to rabies, especially through bats or other wildlife that may enter the home.

🐶🐱 Keep your pet's rabies vaccine up to date. Vaccinate. Protect. Prevent.

🍂 The weather is cooling off, but fleas aren’t going anywhere! 🐾

As temperatures drop, fleas look for warm, protected environments—and your home provides the perfect place to survive. Fleas can move indoors on pets, clothing, shoes, or other animals and then settle into warm areas such as carpets, bedding, furniture, and cracks in flooring.

Once inside, fleas can continue their life cycle year-round. This means that even when it’s cold outside, your pet can still be exposed to fleas in the comfort of their own home.

🐱 And yes—even indoor-only cats can get fleas! Fleas can easily hitch a ride inside with people, dogs, other pets, or wildlife. You may never see a flea outside or notice one on your pet before an infestation begins.

That’s why year-round flea prevention is so important. Keeping your pets consistently protected helps prevent fleas from becoming a problem for both your pet and your home.

❤️ Don’t let cooler weather give you a false sense of security. Keep flea prevention on your pet’s schedule all year long! Ask your veterinary team which flea prevention is best for your pet.
