At The Responsible Dog, we're passionate about training dogs—but we're just as passionate about investing in our community.

Over the past several months, we've poured hundreds of volunteer hours into the Kanabec County 4-H Dog Project, helping coach, mentor, and encourage local youth. This past week, our volunteer hats multiplied as we served as barn superintendents, 4-H Auction Committee members, mentors, problem-solvers, and just about anything else that needed to be done. From early mornings to late nights, we were honored to support the incredible young people who make our community so special.

If you've been waiting on a returned phone call, email, or message, thank you for your patience. We know we've been a little quieter than usual, and we're working our way through everything now that fair week has wrapped up.

Owning a small business means wearing many hats, and one of the hats we're proudest to wear is "volunteer." Supporting youth, agriculture, and opportunities for kids to learn responsibility, leadership, and confidence is something we deeply believe in, and we're grateful to be in a position where we can give back.

Thank you for supporting our business, because your support allows us to support our community. ❤️🐾

This week, we're cheering on two incredible teams as they represent our little community at the 2026 AKC Rally National Championship! 🏆🐾

🍀 Renee & Lucky and 💙 Jackson & Yeti have put in countless hours of training, teamwork, and dedication to earn their place on the national stage. Competing at this level is an incredible accomplishment, and we couldn't be prouder of everything they've achieved.

No matter what happens in the ring, you've already shown what commitment, sportsmanship, and the bond between a handler and their dog can accomplish.

Best of luck to both teams! Have fun, trust your training, and enjoy every moment of this amazing experience. We'll be cheering you on all the way from Minnesota! 💙🐕🇺🇸

🐾 Want to build this kind of self-control with your dog? 🐾

Self-control is one of the most valuable skills we can teach our dogs. It helps them learn how to pause, think, and make good choices—even when there are distractions, excitement, or the temptation to get up and do their own thing.

Our Summer of Self-Control class is designed to help you and your dog build stronger communication, better impulse control, and reliable skills you can use in everyday life.

Over this 4-week class, we’ll work on skills like:
✨ Longer duration stays
✨ Building focus around distractions
✨ Teaching your dog how to settle and relax
✨ Improving your teamwork and communication
✨ Creating a dog who can confidently handle more freedom

Because a well-trained dog isn’t just one who knows commands… it’s one who understands how to make good choices. 🐶💙

📅 Starts Thursday, July 30th at 4:00 p.m.

🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July from all of us at The Responsible Dog! 🇺🇸

Freedom wanted to do the honors this year by proudly carrying Old Glory. ❤️🤍💙

As you celebrate today, don't forget that the holiday can be overwhelming for many dogs. Keep ID tags on, provide a safe, quiet place indoors, and remember that a little extra enrichment can go a long way while the fireworks are going.

We hope your day is filled with family, friends, great food, wagging tails, and plenty of happy memories.

Have a safe and wonderful Independence Day! 🇺🇸🐾
