🐴💎 TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK — ESPECIALLY FOR OUR LESSON HORSES! 💎🐴
At 3 Gems, keeping our lesson horses happy, healthy, and comfortable is always a top priority. ❤️
Today, Olaf was the lucky recipient of some extra-special care! 🐴
What makes his care so special is the teamwork between our veterinarian and farrier, who work together to make sure Olaf gets exactly what he needs.
🧲 Step 1: Our farrier removed Olaf's old shoes.
🩻 Step 2: Our veterinarian took X-rays to get a closer look at what was happening inside his hooves.
🤝 Step 3: The vet and farrier reviewed the X-rays together, discussing the best approach to support Olaf's comfort and soundness.
🔨 Step 4: With a plan in place, our farrier fitted Olaf with specialized shoes designed for his individual needs.
💉 Step 5: Finally, our veterinarian performed joint injections to help improve Olaf's comfort.
It takes a team to care for the horses who take care of our students. ❤️
Our lesson horses give so much of themselves. They patiently teach beginners, build confidence, forgive mistakes, and help riders discover a love for horses that can last a lifetime.
The least we can do is give them the very best care in return.
A huge THANK YOU to our veterinarian and farrier for combining their knowledge and expertise to help keep Olaf comfortable and doing what he does best — being one of our beloved 3 Gems teachers! 💎🐴
Because at 3 Gems, our horses aren't just part of the program. They ARE the heart of the program. ❤️

Yesterday, Buddy began a new chapter at his retirement home: 80 acres of pasture, plenty of daily affection, and a lifetime horsewoman ready to spoil him. He’ll enjoy occasional rides with her and her grandchildren, too—a lovely fit for a good horse who has given so much.

Buddy’s story is closely tied to Jerry’s. Six years ago, when Jerry was 75, he called with one request: he wanted to ride. A lifelong horseman, he didn’t need lessons—just a little extra help because of Parkinson’s and a riding partner. I was lucky to join them for trail rides and conversations, and those memories still mean so much.

Jerry generously donated Buddy to our lesson program, where Buddy became a partner to many students. He helped make their time at the barn possible and gave them a horse to learn with, care for, and remember. The impact of a lesson horse reaches far beyond the ride, and Buddy has been part of so many special moments.

Today, Jerry’s daughter and I continue to do what we can to keep his love of horses alive. We’re grateful for all that Jerry and Buddy have brought to our lives and to the lives of our students—and thankful Buddy now has a home where he’ll be cherished every day.

🐴❤️ WELCOME HOME, TRIXX! ❤️🐴
After 15 months away, our boy Trixx is finally back home at 3 Gems!
Trixx has spent that time at Painted Bar Stables in New York's beautiful Finger Lakes region, gaining something that can't always be taught in a riding arena — real-world experience!
From exploring unfamiliar trails and navigating new environments to building confidence, endurance, and independence, Trixx has been getting an education of his own.
One of his adventures even included completing the 16-mile Hector Half Hundred endurance ride! That's quite an accomplishment for our boy!
What makes this journey even more special is that Trixx spent this time with Zoe, who had previously worked with him during her Equine Science training at the University of Minnesota Crookston.
At 3 Gems, we believe a great lesson horse never stops learning. The more experiences our horses have, the more confidence, patience, and wisdom they can bring home to share with their riders.
We're grateful for everyone who helped Trixx grow during his time away. Thanks to Tanya of Peaks & Prairies Transport for his safe return. But most of all, we're simply happy to have him HOME! 🏡❤️
Welcome back to the 3 Gems family, Trixx. We've missed you!

🐴 Happy Hooves, Happy Horses! 💎💎💎

At 3 Gems, taking care of our lesson horses goes far beyond feeding, grooming, and giving them a comfortable place to call home. ❤️

One of the ways we invest in their comfort is through pour-in hoof pads, applied by our farrier during shoeing.

Think of them as a little extra cushioning inside their shoes! 🐎

✨ Shock Absorption – Helps cushion the repeated impact of everyday riding.

✨ Sole Protection – Adds a protective layer between sensitive hooves and the ground.

✨ Extra Comfort – Provides cushioning and support for horses spending time on their feet.

✨ Senior Horse Care – Can offer added protection for our seasoned lesson horses as they age.

Our horses give so much of themselves, patiently teaching riders of all ages and abilities. It's our responsibility to give that care right back.

Because at 3 Gems, our horses aren't just part of the lesson program. They're the heart of it. ❤️🐴

High School Graduation photos celebrate how far a student has come—and sometimes, they include a very special four-legged friend.

When a student chooses a lesson horse to be part of this milestone, it says so much about the bond they’ve built. That horse may have been there for first rides, new challenges, proud accomplishments, and all the little moments in between. They’ve helped make the barn feel like a place to grow, learn, and belong.

Long after the cap and gown are put away, that photo will hold a reminder of a horse who was part of the journey—and the special place they’ll always have in that student’s heart. 💛🐴

Congratulations to all our graduates! 3 Gems is grateful to celebrate this milestone with you.
