We are back in Ranchester Wyoming for our annual tracking workshop and couldn’t be happier! We had a great first day and we are so excited to watch these teams grow. There are a couple of new faces this year too!

We are so proud of this boy. He has come a long way and has a very important job ahead. He loves his new family and we know he will do well. ❤️.

🐾 THIS IS WHAT RESCUE IS ALL ABOUT! 💜💚

Today, we get to celebrate something incredibly special — not just a rescue story, but a story about partnership, community, and changing TWO lives at once.

Ranger, a 2-year-old German Shepherd, was surrendered to Piedmont Animal Rescue and found himself needing a new purpose and a new home.

At the same time, a very deserving individual and their family were searching for a larger-breed service dog. When we met Ranger, we knew there was something special about him — and that he just might be exactly what they were looking for.

Thanks to our incredible friends at Elevation K9 Training , Ranger began an extensive training program to prepare him for one of the most important jobs a dog can have.

❤️ Four months of training later… RANGER IS OFFICIALLY A SERVICE DOG! ❤️

Even better, Ranger is now living with his person, providing companionship, independence, assistance, and unconditional love — all at absolutely NO COST to the family.

This is why partnerships between rescues, trainers, volunteers, donors, and our community matter so much.

A dog who needed someone found a person who needed Ranger. 🐕‍🦺💜

We cannot thank Elevation K9 Training enough for working alongside Piedmont Animal Rescue and helping make this possible. Their time, expertise, dedication, and heart helped transform Ranger from a surrendered dog into a trained service dog with an incredibly important future ahead.

THIS is rescue.

It isn’t only about saving animals. Sometimes, when we give an animal a second chance, that animal gets the opportunity to change a human life in return.

Congratulations, Ranger! 🐾🎉
You’ve got a very important job now, buddy — and we couldn’t be prouder of you.

💜 Rescue. Rehabilitate. Rehome. Repeat. 💚

Meet Samson! He is available for adoption through Animal Care & Control

Samson is a big, beautiful German Shepherd with an even bigger personality. He’s goofy, playful, social, and an all around really nice dog.

While in foster with us, Samson is receiving professional obedience training working on heel, sit, place, doorway boundaries, and more. He’s potty trained, crate trained, has shown no leash reactivity toward other dogs, and has had successful parallel walks with other dogs.

BONUS: Samson’s future adopters will receive FREE training lessons with us to learn everything he’s been working on and help set everyone up for a successful transition!

He’s handsome. He’s smart. He’s hilariously goofy. And he’s ready to find his forever home.

Interested in adopting Samson? Send us a message for more information!

Pretty girls don’t chase boys, they track them 🐾

Everyone loves to rag on Chihuahuas, but most Chihuahuas are never given the opportunity to show what they’re truly capable of. Rue is here to advocate for her breed 🐺

Rue may be small, but her size has nothing to do with her abilities. Tracking taps into instincts all dogs possess – combined with drive, training, and the opportunity to do what they were naturally built to do.

Never underestimate the littles 💪🏻

Not every dog shows up needing to start from scratch.

Ollie came in with a solid foundation because his mom has already put in the work. She has some of the best handling skills and instincts we’ve seen from someone who is self taught!

Then again, she trains horses.

We’ve noticed our horse people tend to have a bit of a head start when it comes to understanding how animals learn. So we’re calling that an advantage.

Ollie already has nice basic obedience. His biggest problem? He thinks other dogs deserve his very strong opinions. Unfortunately his mom is about half his size, so we’d like those opinions to become a little less, public.

Our job isn’t to start over. It’s to build on the foundation they’ve already created and help turn this good boy into a great one.

And if you’re wondering what breed he is 🐶

Great Pyrenees × Husky × Standard Poodle.

Excellence doesn’t happen by accident. It takes consistent training, new environments, and real world challenges to keep our detection dogs performing at the highest level.

We recently spent time training at Empire Towing Corp , exposing our dogs to new vehicles, odors, distractions, and search scenarios that help maintain the reliability they’re expected to have when it matters most.

A huge thank you to Empire Towing for allowing us to use their property and supporting quality K9 training. Community partnerships like this help us build better dogs and better teams.

Bluey was kicked out of boarding, daycare, and the groomer. He had been prescribed daily medication to help manage his behavior, and his dad was struggling to get basic care tasks done.

What changed?

Training.

Just clear communication, boundaries, confidence building, and positive experiences that taught Bluey how to navigate the world successfully.

Medication can be an important tool for some dogs, and there is absolutely a time and place for it. But many dogs are never taught the skills they need to cope with everyday situations. They are overwhelmed, confused, fearful, or simply haven’t been shown what is expected of them.

The best time to address these things is early. Start training young. Create positive associations with grooming, handling, people, places, and new experiences. Set boundaries. Build confidence. Teach your dog how to succeed.

When we invest in training, we aren’t just stopping unwanted behaviors. We’re giving dogs the skills to live fuller, happier lives.

Bluey is no longer relying on medication for everyday situations, and that’s a win for everyone involved.

Train the dog in front of you. You may be surprised by what they’re capable of.

Before accepting that your dog “just needs medication,” ask yourself if they’ve been given the opportunity to learn.

Training can change lives.

If you’re struggling with your dog’s behavior, we’d love to help. Send us a message and let’s build a training plan that gives your dog the confidence and skills to succeed.
