Chopper was one of our first trainees who received his own special video. When this video ran in January 2025, he was adopted the next day. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Chopper has found his way back to us, but have no fear! He is older, wiser and more fun than ever. If you want an active dog with energy and training, come check out Chopper so he can find a new home ASAP!

Due to ongoing construction of our spay neuter clinic, this month's Warehouse Sale will look a little differentā€”but the deals are still just as good!

There's a ton of things on our wishlist we need that are on sale. AirTags to keep our animals safe in case of escape. Nylabones and dog food to keep our dogs content, enrichment toys and cat beds if you wanna stay on our kitties good side! We also are always in need of things like cat litter, trash bags, paper towels, and general cleaning supplies!

This is a loving and gentle giant who has enjoyed the company of every person to cross his path! Although he can be a bit of a couch potato, he is always down for a nice walk

Sushi is also obsessed with his soft toys and loves to hold them in his mouth while he sleeps! If you're looking for a cuddle bug, this is your guy!

Update: We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support and interest McNugget has gotten. Please see comments for details on how to meet him and more info. We do work on a first come, first served basis, and adoption is PENDING meet and greet approval. Our process is all in person and we do not have an application for our dogs at the rescue. We cannot do holds, we do require dog to dog meet and greets for other dogs in the home, and our first priority is making sure McNugget ends up in the best home possible for him and his breed! While thereā€™s only one of him, we have about 30 more dogs available for adoption, most of which can be met at our facility. All can be viewed on our website www.lakenormanhumane.org/dogs.

This guy IMMEDIATELY stole the hearts of all the volunteers and staff, and pretty much anyone else who has seen his picture, for very obvious reasons. At a year old, heā€™s around 40lbs and is quite the low rider. Heā€™s pocket sized perfection and his name matches his personality. Heā€™s energetic, happy, excitable, and full of puppy energy in a compact body.

How could you not fall in love with that face?! Heā€™s available for adoption and you donā€™t need a side of fries because heā€™s the full package!

Hear from Spudā€™s foster mom:

ā€œSpud was an amazing boy. He followed the commands sit, down, stay and heel without issue. When told to ā€œget in your bedā€ he would lay down in his bed and stay. Was always gentle taking treats from the hand and never rushed the open door to escape. Walking on leash was great, no pulling and would sit to wait when commanded. He does get nervous around unknown men approached and will bark and sometimes advance but was still easily controlled. Has a very laid back personality and overall was low energy. He did enjoy playing tug of war. Didnā€™t jump to sn**ch food out of hands and would stay out of the kitchen when told. Very affectionate and loved to check in on everyone periodically to give licks before going back to lay down.

He is super skittish around men and took a few days to ā€œtrustā€ my husband and son. Being patient, especially when entering the house by knocking to alert Spud of the enter, allowing him to smell through the cracked door before entering really helps alleviate his anxiety. Loud voices and sudden movements can make him jump and cower so being slow and building trust is paramount in forming a calm relationship. He slept uncrated for 9 days without any accidents or destruction to items like stuffed animals or furniture. No excessive barking or whining.ā€

Spud is a 4-year-old terrier mix who is house-trained, dog-friendly, highly trained, and incredibly affectionate. He thrives in a calm home with patient adopters who understand that he needs slow introductions to new people, particularly men. Once he trusts you, he's a loyal companion with a laid-back personality and plenty of love to give. Interested in meeting Spud?
