How many different ways can our hearts break?? Life outside is not easy for a feral. We do everything we can to make it a bit more comfortable for them. We have dedicated feeders that feed each and every day. We have feed stations set up to keep food dry in the weather. We have shelters filled with straw to help keep them warm and give them a place to nestle down and sleep out of the elements.
Can you imagine how devastating it was to us today to see that someone destroyed our feed station? This was a deliberate act of cruelty. That long pole was not something that was in the area. Someone brought it with them. This is a managed colony that has been in this location for at least the last 15 years. It is in a business location, out of the way, with permission of the owners. Our name and number were on the feed station with bowls inside. This was not done by accident.
Our hearts break at the thought of these kitties witnessing someone destroying where they are used to their food being. We are terrified for our kitties that someone may come back and do something worse.
THIS is why you never share the location of a colony. THIS is why you feed as discreetly as possible. People are cruel.
