I just want to thank everyone who has commented, messaged, called, or sent texts about Twister. It has meant so much to see just how many people he touched throughout his life. I don’t have it in me to reply to everyone individually, but please know that every message, every memory shared, and every kind word has been greatly appreciated.
When you loose a horse after 30 years, it takes a big piece your heart with it. Twister was with me before my husband, before my children, and through some of the roughest times in my life. He was more than just a horse. He was a constant in my life, and I will forever be grateful that I was the one chosen to be his person.
For more than 30 years, I spent most of my days seeing him as soon as I walked out the back door or hearing him call to me when he heard that door open. It was just part of my everyday life. I still find myself looking toward his pen every time I walk outside. The habit is so deeply ingrained that I don’t think it will ever go away. I imagine I’ll always look for him there.
Thirty years is a lifetime of memories, and saying goodbye to a piece of your life like that leaves a hole that words can’t quite explain. I’m so thankful for every year I had with him, for everything he gave me, and for the legacy he leaves behind.
Thank you all for loving him, remembering him, and sharing a little piece of what made him so special. He meant the world to me, and knowing how much he meant to so many others makes me even more grateful that I got to be his person. ❤️
If you have any pictures of his foals or him, I would love to see them ❤️
