With staffing changes, we have changed our hours and some of work flow. We will extend appointment hours if/when needed. Anna will be in the area *most* (but not all) Fridays and can do simple appointments that don't require extra hands, fill medications, give shots, etc., by special arrangement.

We are still available for emergency surgeries on most days, even weekends.

Our new hours:
Monday: 8 am - 7 pm
Tuesday: 8 am - 4 pm
Wednesday: 8 am - 6 pm (SURGERY DAY)
Thursday: 8 am - 4 pm
Fri/Sat/Sun: Closed/by special appointment only.

This is a very difficult post to make, so please bear with me.

After 19 years of marriage, and almost 12 years of serving this community, Stephen and I are going our separate ways. His last day with us will be May 1. Some of you have known this was coming, but to most I am sure it will be quite a shock.

I can assure you that, other than my children, this practice is my top priority and it will continue to be here for you and your pets. I took a lot of time and care searching for Stephen's replacement, and found someone who I believe is up to the task. Lisa Feltt is joining us and taking over his roles. She has 25 years of experience as a veterinary technician, including almost 10 years at Rocky Hill - doing both general practice and emergency work. She is looking forward to getting to know all of you and we will continue to run the practice as we have.

There will be a few adjustments in our hours and schedule, which we will clarify once she settles in. Please be patient with us both as we adjust to this new normal. Most importantly, please keep in mind my kids - as this is a small community, and keeping things as "normal" for them is my goal right now.

Like a cat, I always have and always will land on my feet 🐾. I am eternally grateful for this town and community and I am looking forward to serving you and your pets for many years to come ❤️.

Happy Spring CT!

It has come to our attention that AI, in all it's glory, has a summary of our practice online that is not completely correct. We are not trained in, and do not practice "holistic" medicine. We are holistic in the sense that we take the whole animal into account, but we do not practice alternative medicine (herbal therapy, homeopathy, titers instead of vaccinations, etc.).

With the recent loss of 2 alternative medicine veterinarians in the area, we've had several phone calls asking about alternative therapies. I do know of some other practitioners in CT who are comfortable with these modalities, however our training is in traditional medicine and we would not be a good fit for those *only* seeking non-traditional options!

Update 8/30: The owner of these dogs has her housing situation settled for the next 1-2 months, although she may need a foster at that time. But for now the pups are safe in their home. She is ever so grateful of those who reached out, as are we. We may reach out again if help is needed at that time! 💕💕

SOS! We have a client who is looking for a few month's foster for 2 small older dogs, a 10 pound chihuahua and a 20 pound pekingese, while she sorts out a housing issue. We will reach out to rescues as well but if any of our wonderful clients have the room and ability to temporarily house these geriatric pups I'm sure she'd appreciate the help 💓. If you may be interested please call or PM our page and I can get more details! Picture for Facebook tax it is my cat who is not up for foster at this time!

The black flies/Mayflies are BAD this year! We have gotten... no exaggeration... 50 calls this week with concerns over red welts on the bellies of dogs. So if you've called, don't feel bad, you are in good company!

These fly bites usually don't cause problems and resolve on their own. Rarely they can cause a more severe allergic reaction or superficial infection. There are other conditions that CAN mimic these harmless bites, such as tick bites (that could transmit disease), ringworm (a fungal infection) or even bleeding problems. But if it is this time of year and your dog was outside and they are on the belly... they are *most likely* these insect bites.

If you are particularly worried, concerned about tick diseases (if your dog is on a prescription tick preventative such as Bravecto this would be highly unlikely), or if there are other signs associated with the spots, your dog should be evaluated. Otherwise keep an eye on them and fly bites should fade over several days!
