ADOPTED 3/6
We rarely post a dog twice.
The reason is simple: Our community shows up. Every single time. You adopt the shy ones, the energetic ones, the older ones, the goofy ones, the ones who just need a chance. Because of you, the average dog stays with us for less than two weeks before going home. That’s something we never take for granted, and it’s something we’re incredibly grateful for.
But every once in a while, there’s a dog who needs just a little more help from all of us.
You might remember Princess. We shared her story a few weeks ago. Her owner loved her very much, but he was struggling with his health and could no longer give her the care she needed. Making the decision to surrender her was heartbreaking for him, and it was a big change for Princess, too.
Princess is blind, and the shelter was overwhelming for her. Imagine suddenly being in a place filled with unfamiliar sounds, smells, and voices when you can’t see where anything is coming from. It was a lot. Thankfully, we were able to find her a foster home, and it has made all the difference.
In foster care, Princess has truly blossomed. Her foster mom describes her as the sweetest dog ever. With a stable environment and someone she can trust, her anxiety has melted away. She loves following her foster mom around the house, listening to her voice, and soaking up as many butt scratches and cuddles as she can get.
Originally, we thought Princess might need to be the only animal in the home because navigating other pets can be stressful for a blind dog. But she surprised us. In foster care, she’s done very well with a calm dog companion and has mostly ignored the cats (aside from a little curious sniff here and there). We would still recommend a calm home with mellow pets, or one where she can be the queen of the castle.
Princess has now been in our care for over a month. She’s been incredibly brave through all of these changes, and we’re so proud of how far she’s come. But what she truly wants, and what she deserves, is stability. A home. A person who will be hers.
So today we’re asking our community for a little extra help.
If you can’t adopt Princess, please consider sharing her story. The right person might just be one share away. And if you think you might be the home she’s been waiting for, please click the link below to learn more and contact her foster mom.
This sweet eight-year-old girl has so much love left to give. Let’s make sure March is the month Princess finds her castle, and the happily ever after she deserves.
