Another trip to Friendship Farms was made last Sunday and again April was awesome. A few mistakes here and there but everyone has a bad day now and again. Here's a short clip of our attempt at a bridleless sidepass and back up. Of course we stretch for treats at the end as well because who doesn't love a tasty reward. 😉

For a 21 yr old with no practice, just trail riding, she doesn't do too shabby. Thanks to her I stayed in the running for the year end awards at Bluestone Valley Acres gymkhana series. ☺

For anyone wondering, Kitty is also doing extremely well. Still living the life for the most part retired. An occasional trail ride here and there is extent of her current career. She had a pretty bad choke over the summer but of course cleared it herself right before the vet showed up, go figure. She received a round of antibiotics as a precautionary for pneumonia in case she aspirated anything during her choke episode. She has had no issues since and continues ruling the roost BUT only when Autumn isn't near. And of course, the dirt and dust shows up perfectly on her dark bay color. Don't mind her, she enjoys being dirty. ☺

I know I have been pretty inactive on here recently so I'm going to try getting everybody up to date without writing a novel.

April was tested and was positive for Lyme Disease and Anaplasmosis this spring, not a surprise. She was treated and really showed no improvement other than being less back sore than she was. I let her go barefoot and gave her the entire summer off to "recover" and see what the difference in her would be after her short lived retirement. I still attended my favorite show every month, Friday Night Lights at Blue Stone Valley Acres, but with Autumn in the trailer instead of Apes. After many issues finding a truck, hauling partner and horse to use when Autumn wasn't feeling up to par either, we still made it to each and every one and ended the season 6th in the Senior division. Back to April, I recently learned about the symptoms of a horse with a Magnesium deficiency, which include, skin sensitivity, wariness, excitability, tight sore backs not related to saddle fit and so on. Hmmmm, that really got my brain working. I looked into supplements for days, finally found one costing a measly $12 a year and after consulting our vet and getting the go ahead finally said let's give it a whirl. I almost immediately noticed a difference in her skin sensitivity. She enjoys scratches now, lip quivers and all. I trailered her to Friendship Farms a few weeks prior to starting her on the supplement and she was most definitely not on her A game. She was nervous, super skin sensitive, bucky and just plain miserable. We went back to Friendship Farms again a week ago and to my honest surprise she was absolutely incredible. She wasn't tense, enjoyed being brushed in the cross ties, stood stock still to be tacked which is very unusual for her and looked as though she was genuinely enjoying herself. She rode around beautifully, there was no fighting with her, no shenanigans like we always have had in the past. I felt like I was riding a totally different horse. It was just a truly enjoyable day right up to the end. I'm leary it may have been a fluke so another trip to Friendship Farms is in store but fingers are crossed that we have the same experience as the last. I'll be working harder on keeping this page more up to date in the coming months with updates and the going ons with Moonstone Equine. Thank you to everyone for sticking around and believing in both April and I, as well as my other two retirement ponies. We appreciate you all.

Hey guys! Gunn is for sale to the perfect home!
He is a 5 year old 16.1 hand grade grey gelding broke to ride walk, trot, canter but would definitely be considered a project and is not suited for a beginner. He could go in any direction you wish to take him. He loves to trail ride, is good for the vet and farrier, loads and hauls great, ties and has an in your pocket type of personality. He does need corrective farrier work and shoes. He is up to date on shots, coggins, deworming and farrier. If your looking for your next willing and beautiful project here's you man.
Priced at $1000 but open to reasonable offers to a good home.

April has successfully learned the basics of side passing. A little more practice and she'll have it mastered.

April has been making leaps and bounds with our new training schedule and the use of the indoor. She is so willing, smart and eager to please. We'll never have another horse like her. Here's a little video of us riding bridleless the other day. Enjoy!

If anyone would like their dog to receive riding lessons, that just happens to be one of our specialties. As you can see, this young pup has beautiful form and sports an extremely happy expression. The horses really seem to enjoy it as well! Just look at Taz's face! 😂

All jokes aside, Taz and Kovu really didn't seem to mind what we put them through at all! Taz is as close as they come to bombproof and is still looking for a home so please help spread the word!
