Taryn’s #1 recommended retail item is our Pet Naturals calming chews.

Taryn's Testimonial :“ I purchased these as an experiment to try with boarding as an add-on for our nervous pets that may skip meals or also have a lot of nervous accidents being away from their owners. I began giving them to some specific dogs I had in mind after reaching out to some owners, and giving it to my own senior dog before she was groomed. I noticed a MAJOR difference in the decrease of accidents. The effect was so noticeable I decided that we really need to offer it as an item for purchase on the shelves in addition to an add-on for boarding."

It is my absolute favorite item we stock! $11. (Please appreciate my wonderful ad artwork.)

Pretty Boy Clark wants everyone to know you can schedule an exit bath or groom with your pup’s boarding stay at Willow Branch. He also HIGHLY recommends doing so for any extended boarding stay 🙂

Because our grooming department is staffed separately, and they are so amazing and BUSY, our booking process is a little different than what you may be used to at Cisco’s. To give your pup the best chance at going home fresh and clean, we highly recommend booking ahead of time rather than calling the day of on our boarding line.

How to book:
• Call our main Willow Branch number and select the GROOMING extension
• OR book online—just be sure to select the grooming location

Our boarding staff is happy to relay messages and do our best to get you scheduled with them, but sometimes messages get missed and not all boarding staff is confident in scheduling grooming appointments.

Please note: grooming services cannot be added on to a boarding reservation as an add-on—they will appear as a separate appointment.

Willow Branch Howling Alley is proud (and slightly exhausted) to announce this month’s Pet of the Month: the one, the only… Queen Attie! A stunning chocolate lab who celebrated her birthday just last month, Attie has officially secured her crown—nominated by Taryn and, reportedly, many others who may or may not have actually submitted votes. (In fairness, Tucker is currently in the middle of the ocean and unreachable for comment, and Sully is busy defending himself against what we can only assume are very aggressive otters in Alaska.)

Attie is best known around Willow Branch for her unwavering commitment to the art of relaxation. Whether it’s a warm summer afternoon or a mildly sunny Tuesday, you’ll find her basking in the sun like the true lounge lizard queen she is—unbothered, radiant, and fully aware of her status.

Behind the scenes, this victory did not come easily. There is, quite literally, nothing Taryn wouldn’t do for Attie. From aggressive March Madness-style campaigning to reconnecting with people she hasn’t spoken to in twenty years in a full “MLM Boss Babe” fashion, the dedication has been unmatched. Rumors of strategic bribery have neither been confirmed nor denied.

The Willow Branch staff would also like to formally express their relief that Attie’s name has finally been drawn. With Attie’s win secured, employees can finally return to their daily routines without the looming pressure—or potential consequences—of failing to vote appropriately.

All hail Queen Attie. Long may she lounge

July Howling Alley Employee of the Month goes to Brian Alan Wiltgen!

Brian's employment story is one of my favorites. He was "recruited" to work one day a week. That arrangement lasted approximately two weeks before he somehow became everyone's favorite person to call when they needed a shift covered. Before long, he was working what felt like every day. I'm pretty sure I made him fill out an application... I'm much less confident I actually read it.

When he's not at Willow Branch, Brian is a full-time student at Parkland and somehow still finds time to be one of the most well-rounded people I know. He was a multi-sport athlete in high school, played baseball and hockey, and I’ve been lucky enough to see him play both! (On Senior Night for his final hockey game in Bloomington, he casually scored a hat trick and had the biggest cheering section of any player). No big deal.

He's also an unapologetic fan of all the correct teams: the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, and Chicago Blackhawks. Which is exactly why, when he decides in the middle of the night that he absolutely needs Bears playoff tickets for multiple games—before bothering to get his shifts covered—we usually just sigh, laugh, and make it work. At this point, we're considering starting a GoFundMe next season to support his spontaneous ticket-buying habits. We also didn’t see him at all in April or May and wondered if he was still employed-he was busy watching the Sox kill it in Chicago.

Brian's fan club extends well beyond our staff. Cocoa, one of our daycare dogs, is so completely obsessed with him that she's learned to scale an entire wall just to try to get to him when he's working up front. Thankfully, there's a door separating daycare from the front of the building, or we'd have a DAILY Cocoa jailbreak on our hands. The feeling is definitely mutual—Brian has faithfully voted for Cocoa as Pet of the Month every single month.

Brian's work ethic is second to none. He's almost always early, never complains about helping out, and is the guy you know you can count on when you need him. Those kinds of employees are hard to find, and we're incredibly lucky to have him.

He also insists he's part of the Willow Branch Dream Team... the jury is still out on that one.

And perhaps his greatest accomplishment of all? When my daughter turned two, she personally decided Brian was the only person who made the guest list for her birthday party and would consistently answer “By-nan” when asked who she wanted at her birthday party. You can't argue with a toddler's rankings.

My personal favorite thing about Brian is that he can be bribed. Flashback to March Madness of Willow Branch asking if I would write him a Letter of Recommendation for a scholarship committee, “Sure, if you change your vote.” Did I write that letter, yes, did he change his vote, also yes, because that’s how we roll…..

Congratulations, Brian! Thanks for everything you do for Willow Branch. We're proud to have you on the team... even if we're going to have to start budgeting for your Bears playoff habit. Your prize is a case of your favorite Bai drinks, which I have yet to buy, but I WILL.
