These four girls earned Grand Champion at BOTH IEA shows last weekend! 🏆✨

Since we helped host both shows, they had plenty of extra work to do on top of showing up and riding their very best. Through it all, they kept great attitudes, worked hard, and never complained. 💕

So proud of these girls for showing that true champions shine both in and out of the show ring! 🐴❤️

🐴 PONY SPOTLIGHT: ROJO! 🐴
Meet Rojo, our large Quarter Pony and one of the horses you can count on to take good care of his riders. He is especially wonderful with beginners and has a smooth trot and canter that makes him a favorite to ride.

That smooth way of going also makes Rojo very fun to ride ba****ck.

In the arena, Rojo is patient, dependable, and happy to do his job. Around the barn, however, he has a few opinions.

For starters, Rojo is not a fan of the cross-ties. He would much prefer to be groomed and tacked up in his stall. And the wash rack? Absolutely not. Rojo has decided that the wash rack is a scary place, so he has earned himself some very special bath privileges.

We’re happy to accommodate his preferences. After all, when you’re as good at your job as Rojo is, you can have a few quirks!

Sweet, smooth, dependable, and just a little particular, Rojo is a favorite for riders who are learning the ropes, and we’re lucky to have him at Edgebrook. ❤️🐴

Looking down the barn aisle at SWF, you will often see kids figuring it out on their own when they can’t do something.

It’s our job to make sure they’re in in a safe environment with appropriate ponies. After that, they can take a few trips to be able to carry all their tack out, they can take ten minutes to figure out how to put the bridle on their way when a pony is moving their head around, they can figure out how to catch the pony who would rather be napping, they can practice their clipping on ponies not showing for a little while, and they can figure out their own style, how their bodies work in concert with a pony, and how to troubleshoot what comes up in any given moment between themselves and their lesson. This all takes time to learn, a space and environment where the long road is the short road, and the expectation that kids, even little kids, are very competent at appropriate tasks for their age. Your 9 year old can tack up all by themselves. We promise.

What a fruitful weekend for the Edgebrook Equestrian IEA Team! 🏆

Our “tiny but mighty” team brought home the Champion title in the Middle School competition, showcasing incredible talent, teamwork, and determination.

Our adult IEA members also made their debut at their inaugural horse show and what a debut it was! They came out with top placings in both classes, making for an exciting and memorable weekend all around.

We couldn’t be more proud of this hardworking team and all they accomplished!
