Warning this might be a long one, if you could please read until the end. Thank you!
The customers I have had the last two weeks are already somewhat filled in but others have not been. I know I have said this in the past but dog grooming is a very physically demanding occupation and I have been hard at it for close to 32 years so none of my injuries surprise me anymore. But they sure make things difficult and frustrating! My Aunt said it best today when she reminded me how my personality and my love for dogs and their humans makes me work through pain that I may be having and that I tend to forget I need to remember my own health and to slow down when needed. Long story sorry, I had an MRI this morning and found out that I have tendinitis on the outside of my left hip and arthritis inside my hip along with the lack of cartilage in part of my hip joint. The doctor said no surgery for now, thankful for that. It wasn’t surprising to hear that sometime in my future a hip replacement will be unavoidable. This level of pain has been going on for the last three or four weeks but if I’m honest, probably more like the last 2 1/2 years off and on. I got a Cortizone shot deep in my hip joint today and will need to start PT, that will be the start of my process to healing and taking care of myself.
I have already started working on this process by cutting back my hours, I had mentioned in a previous post it would be on a trial basis, but after today’s appointment and a discussion with the doctor, I think this will likely be a permanent change. I also will have to start watching the size of my dog customers. Some of the bigger dogs I will continue to groom but I will more than likely need help from owners to lift their pups into the tub or on to the table if the pups refuse to step on the table on their own when I lower it for them. I understand if helping is also hard for you and you need to look into other groomers just let me know so we can figure things out.
Thank you all for always being so supportive and understanding when I need to change up my grooming schedule. If you have any questions or concerns please text me at 507-364-7606
