Leo or Tubbers as his family calls him has been one of my favs forever! His mama texted me yesterday and told me the cutest story about her oldest and Tubbers. She hugs him every morning before school and says to her mom “Tubbers looks so sad, I probably shouldn’t go to school and leave him!” 😂 that just cracked me up so I asked for a picture of Tubbers and his little best friend so I could better share this little story.

Sweet Coco, I’m going to miss you old man. He was a rescue to his family and his new mom and I learned the hard way his first groom with me that he could not be in a kennel (like make his mouth bloody not like the kennel, trying to chew his way out kind of kennel anxiety) so only once he had kennel time and we instead figured out how to give him his spa day with no kennel time. This old guy loved snuggles and really loved for me to put a towel on the floor after his bath so he could rub all the water off. Coco you were a cocker spaniel through and through and really just a treat to groom. Fonseca family I am so very sorry for you loss, thinking of you all. Coco I know you are having so much fun over that rainbow 🌈 bridge, running and playing sweet boy. Until we meet again!

Warning this might be a long one, if you could please read until the end. Thank you!

The customers I have had the last two weeks are already somewhat filled in but others have not been. I know I have said this in the past but dog grooming is a very physically demanding occupation and I have been hard at it for close to 32 years so none of my injuries surprise me anymore. But they sure make things difficult and frustrating! My Aunt said it best today when she reminded me how my personality and my love for dogs and their humans makes me work through pain that I may be having and that I tend to forget I need to remember my own health and to slow down when needed. Long story sorry, I had an MRI this morning and found out that I have tendinitis on the outside of my left hip and arthritis inside my hip along with the lack of cartilage in part of my hip joint. The doctor said no surgery for now, thankful for that. It wasn’t surprising to hear that sometime in my future a hip replacement will be unavoidable. This level of pain has been going on for the last three or four weeks but if I’m honest, probably more like the last 2 1/2 years off and on. I got a Cortizone shot deep in my hip joint today and will need to start PT, that will be the start of my process to healing and taking care of myself.

I have already started working on this process by cutting back my hours, I had mentioned in a previous post it would be on a trial basis, but after today’s appointment and a discussion with the doctor, I think this will likely be a permanent change. I also will have to start watching the size of my dog customers. Some of the bigger dogs I will continue to groom but I will more than likely need help from owners to lift their pups into the tub or on to the table if the pups refuse to step on the table on their own when I lower it for them. I understand if helping is also hard for you and you need to look into other groomers just let me know so we can figure things out.

Thank you all for always being so supportive and understanding when I need to change up my grooming schedule. If you have any questions or concerns please text me at 507-364-7606

I have had customers tell me over the years how excited their pups get when they say “ready to go see Dawn?” They have explained it to me that they go a little bonkers! If you have video of this happening, I would love to see it, please text it to me at 507-364-7606 I would like to share the videos by posting them on my page!

For now enjoy our Grandpuppy yelling at us to get our attention.

Weather is interesting today! Got wet and cold on my walk this morning but my houseguest Annie loved it! I am still open for the scheduled appointments for today, wishing you all a safe drive here, please let me know if you don’t want to risk the drive and choose to reschedule. But from what I have heard the main roads are just wet not too icey .

This sweet little girl had some bad experiences at past groomers, due to that she needs to be done without the clippers and a little relaxing medicine. But as long as I take it slow, lots of sweet talk and kisses plus snuggles she does so good! Plus she really is the sweetest girl, not her fault that previous groomers didn’t find the key to making her experience good for her.

Last week I mentioned opening up my schedule for May through September and the changes I am putting on a trial run. I am officially opening my schedule, just like in the past I will take text messages in the order they are received. This usually takes me about 8 days to make all these appointments and get back to you all about your upcoming dates. Please be patient with me, I am only one person and this is all going on around a very busy dog schedule plus life.

New days and hours. Wednesdays and Thursdays first appointment will be at 7:00am last appointment I will schedule will be at 6:00pm for those of you that have work conflicts. Biggest problem I foresee is not being able to keep to the consistency of weeks between appointments that everyone has become accustomed to. But I will do the best I can to accommodate, it might be 5 weeks instead of 4, or 10 weeks instead of 8.

Please text me at 507-364-7606 to make appointments. If you know of any of my customers that don’t follow this page for information, please make them aware of this announcement. I do my best to try to keep track of all of my clients and if they have appointments scheduled, but it is extremely hard to do. If I don’t hear from you personally I can’t guarantee. I will have openings available by the time we realize you don’t have appointment scheduled.

***ANNOUNCEMENT***

I have been receiving messages because some of you are worried that you don’t have appointments scheduled after April. Which I completely understand. I will start taking appointments for May through September starting next week. I will have one more announcement on here letting you know what day that will be.

I do have a few changes that will be happening and it will be on a trial basis from May through September. I will reevaluate how this is working out mid summer and decide if I will continue on with this schedule. My schedule will change to two grooming days a week, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. I am adding hours on those days. My first dog appointment I will take will be at 7 AM. Last dog appointment for the day will be taken at 6 PM. Hopefully this wll help my clients that can only do certain days that I am no longer grooming on. I’m hoping the late afternoon and evening time slots will help with that.

Thank you for reading through. I will put a message out next week but more than likely. I will start taking appointments Friday, March 13th so I have the weekend to make appointments.

While I was gone I received horrible news! The Schwartz family who’s dogs I have been grooming for years lost their new puppy. Ruby was a cocker spaniel she was almost a year old. She tragically got hit by a car. 😭 Miss Ruby I am going to miss your sass, your snuggles and wiggly butt whenever you saw your brother Tubbers and sister Molly in the kennels. Hugs to Rubys family, losing your fur baby is hard enough but to lose them tragically and way to young is another level. Thinking about you all! Love and hugs sent! Ruby I’ll see you again someday and I hope you met up with your predecessor Rory over that rainbow 🌈 bridge and are loving chasing each other around!
