⚠️ Chicken Feed Tip ⚠️

Did you know feed can begin to spoil before you ever see visible mold?

One of the first signs I’ve noticed over the years is a sweet or floral smell. If your feed suddenly smells like flowers, perfume, or has an unusually sweet scent, take a closer look. Feed should smell fresh, grainy, and natural—not sweet or flowery.

Another thing I’ve noticed is feed that starts changing color. Sometimes you’ll see lighter or whitish-looking areas mixed in with otherwise normal feed. Any unusual color change deserves a closer inspection.

A few things to watch for:

🐔 Sweet or floral odor

🐔 Feed that feels damp or clumps together

🐔 Condensation inside feed containers

🐔 Feed stored in hot, humid conditions

🐔 Unusual color changes or lighter patches in the feed

When in doubt, throw it out. Feed is cheaper than a sick flock

Yaaaaa 🎉🎉🎉🎉 this week my quail have started to lay. I still have to buy what’s needed to complete each breeding section but I’m not supposed to have any green/blue layers that was supposed to happen next generation so now I don’t know what my breeds are except some unless they stay the same breed Just lay color if bred to the right birds. It’s all new to me. Oh and for all you people with blue and green eggs I give you props for getting good pictures of them. It was hell to not have my beautiful blues to not look beige . lol yaaaa🎉🎉🎉

HOW MANY OF YOU USE A BLACK METAL DOG RUN LIKE YOU CAN GET AT ACADEMY AS YOUR COOP? No other structure inside that you close the birds up in? Like the dog run and some perches ? Are you wrapping them with chicken wire or hardware cloth and what are you doing where the tarp roof and it’s metal frame meet ghe fence or for the area below roof or the gap at the door ? Can predators get through that roof/frame and the fence ? Has that been a problem for anyone? Has this worked for you? Pro/cons welcome !

2 year old light Brahma Hen (not from my light Brahma line) I raised her as she came from my satellite farm and friend Jessica Odell with Shallow Creek acres that I got before she sold this line and just raised her for fun . I did not include her in my breeding program and she is not a Mark Peterson line and I didn’t want to bring new blood in this line. She is super rough looking as she is molting big time after sitting on 3 eggs 24 days and none hatched so I gave her 3 and unfortunately only 1 left. The chick is an Isabel . My fun needs to come to an end as I need the space so someone else can enjoy her and her baby . They come together. I sell these babies just the baby for 3️⃣5 each. so this is going to be a bundle not buy one get one free. She will be ready for pick on on Wednesday. I can’t get to her until Tuesday. I worm and treat all birds 3 months (worm 6mos) and older for mites and check them their feet, vent , wings etc before they leave my farm. (I don’t think I can get to it anytime Sooner) message me and we will talk . 🐔I might not be able to respond right away I will see your message please hang tight with me🐔
