We are so proud of all of our riders and the hard work they put in. It was a wonderful day filled with great rides, beautiful horses, smiles, and memories that we’ll cherish! ❤️

Not every horseman is called to the same role.

Some are competitors who thrive under pressure and love the thrill of the arena. Some are incredible horsemen who may never win big, but their feel, timing, and understanding of a horse are second to none. Some are gifted coaches and mentors, pouring into the next generation and helping others achieve their dreams.

Some are trainers who would rather stay at home, starting colts, solving problems, and building great horses than chasing rodeo miles. And some are blessed to do a little bit of all of the above.

I’ve seen champions who have won a lot but aren’t great horsemen. I’ve seen outstanding horsemen who rarely compete or never seem to win. I’ve seen people who excel at both.

I’ve also seen trainers who have no desire to compete they simply love developing horses and helping others succeed. And I’ve seen successful competitors who are so busy competing that they don’t have the time to coach.

None of these paths is more valuable than another.

The horse industry needs competitors, horsemen, trainers, coaches, and mentors. Each one plays a different role, and together they make our industry stronger.

So don’t compare your journey to someone else’s. Keep working hard, stay true to the role God has called you to, and do what brings you joy.

Success isn’t determined by the arena you’re standing in. It’s determined by the impact you leave behind and by the horses and people who are better because you crossed their path.

What an incredible way to wrap up our 2026 camp season! 🐴☀️
Sunny Stables Intermediate Camp came to a close yesterday after three fun-filled days of riding, learning, and making memories. Intermediate level campers continued to build their horsemanship skills, gained confidence in the saddle, and enjoyed time with friends who share their love of horses.
A huge thank you to all of our campers, parents, and our amazing volunteers who helped make this year's camps such a success. We are grateful for each of you and can't wait to see everyone back at the barn for another great summer camp season in 2027!

Sunny Stables traveled to Kemper Knoll Stables LLC last weekend! We had a wonderful day, brought home a ton of ribbons and made many amazing memories! Thanks to everyone who had a hand in hosting this fun show! We're looking forward to the next one!

🌞 Sunny Stables 3rd camp of the summer is a wrap! 🐴

After three fun-filled days, we finished up camp yesterday with plenty of riding, crafting, swimming, educational games, and hands-on learning about the many aspects of horses. We are so thankful to everyone who attended and to our dedicated volunteers who helped make this camp such a memorable experience! 💛🐎

We wrapped up our 2026 Jr Horse Camp today. This amazing group was so much fun! We spent lots of time riding, learning different aspects of horsemanship, crafting, and playing educational games. A sincere thank you to all who attended, and as always, a huge shout out to all of our dedicated volunteers for making this a memorable experience for these young riders!

We asked equine professionals, “What is one thing you wish clients understood?” Their answers are important for riders of all ages to read and understand.

“That “just one thing ” I do for you that takes me 5 minutes? Yeah, that actually adds an hour to my day. And if I don’t charge for doing the “little” extra things, then I can’t get to the big things”

“How hard it is to go 24/7 365 days of the year. And the money/time/mental facilities it takes to run the farm…”

“The tremendous amount of responsibility we carry on our shoulders. For the client, as well as the horse.”

“That horses aren’t vehicles that anyone can drive. You can’t just buy a 3’6″ horse and do the 3’6″ any more than you can just buy a grand prix horse and do the grand prix.”

“Organizing turnout is way harder than you expect. Who goes where, for how long, with a buddy or not. It is way more thoughtful than just putting a horse in a field.”

“The most expensive ponies are the old ones stepping down. If you want a deal, ask for a green or quirky one.”

“Just because I’m available to the horse 24/7 doesn’t mean I need to be available to the humans 24/7! Clients understand that we drop everything for the horses at all hours, and they expect the same for them which is really unfair. Clients who respect boundaries and our ability to have free time or a day off are worth their weight in gold.”

“There is no guarantee that your horse will stay sound.”

Next time you head to the barn or chat with your trainer, try keeping these things in mind. While questions are always welcome, the timing and the way that you ask them can be key. Remember, your trainer wants you and your horse to succeed, so there is almost always a reason for everything they do!
