Morning pack routine ✨
After their potty break I called the whole pack in… and got every single dog to sit together at the same time — all completely off-leash — before we headed back to the barn.
This is what consistent structure, clear communication, and leadership look like every day. Leashes are excellent tools, but when the dogs understand the routine and respect the expectations, off-leash structure becomes the standard.
Real-world pack training in action.

Pack Walk Training: Building Flow & Positive Association 🐾

This isn’t about perfect heel or zero pulling.

It’s about flow, structure, and group dynamics.

On this pack walk, we’re observing how each dog moves within the group—how they follow, adapt, and respond to direction changes.

Mergy is a great example.
Off-leash, he naturally joins in and reads the group. That tells us a lot about his mindset and what he needs moving forward.

We allow freedom on the leash, but not pulling or lunging.
The goal is movement together, not micromanagement.

Pack walks help:
• Build social awareness
• Create positive associations
• Improve leash behavior naturally
• Develop better decision-making

Training isn’t just commands—it’s how the dog moves, thinks, and connects within the environment.

Dad’s gone… now he looks timid. 👀🐾

Same dog. Same house. Different behavior.

This is why I don’t rush interaction or force engagement. I respect the dog’s comfort zone first and observe what’s actually driving the behavior.

What looks like “protection” can often be insecurity influenced by context and social dynamics.

When the environment changes, the truth shows.

Before obedience, you need clarity.
Before correction, you need understanding.

Does your dog get jealous when you give attention to another dog?

Kash the Corgi is working on impulse control during Training Day 5. His owner mentioned that he can become “aggressive” when another dog receives affection, so in this exercise he’s learning that calm behavior—not jealousy—is what earns attention.

The goal is helping the dog understand that affection and space don’t need to be competed over. When dogs learn to regulate their impulses, they can coexist more peacefully with other dogs.

Kash the Corgi – Training Day 4

Many dogs learn to listen only when treats are involved. While food rewards can have their place in training, dogs shouldn’t depend on them every time they’re asked to do something.

In this session, Kash is learning to calmly enter the crate through structure and guidance rather than relying on food as a bribe. The goal is for the dog to understand the expectation and cooperate calmly.

When done correctly, the crate becomes a normal and calm part of the dog’s routine—not something they try to avoid or negotiate over.

Kash the Corgi – Training Day 4.

Many dogs learn to listen only when treats are involved. While food rewards have their place in training, dogs shouldn’t depend on them every time they’re asked to do something.

In this session, Kash is learning to calmly enter the crate through guidance and structure rather than relying on food as a bribe. The goal is for the dog to understand the expectation and cooperate calmly.

Crate training works best when the dog sees the crate as a normal part of their routine—not something they negotiate over.

Board & Train Day 3 with Kash the Corgi.

Before dogs meet face-to-face, they communicate through body language, scent, and movement. In this video, Kash encounters the other dogs through the fence first. This type of controlled introduction allows the dogs to observe, sniff, and process each other safely before any direct interaction happens.

You’ll notice behaviors like sniffing, marking, and slowing down to investigate. Dogs gather a lot of information through scent, and these early moments help them understand the social environment around them.

My role as the trainer is to control the beginning and the end of the interaction—allowing natural investigation while interrupting escalation and encouraging calm behavior. This helps build confidence and prevents tension before dogs ever meet without a barrier.

This was my first walk with Kash, and walks are one of the best ways to start building communication between dog and trainer.

During this walk I’m also observing his baseline behavior around mild distractions. When I’ve seen Kash with his owner before, he would often react strongly toward other dogs on leash. On this walk, he’s actually showing less reactivity than expected, which helps me better understand his triggers.

I also demonstrate a few structured walking principles during this session:

• Giving the dog freedom at the right moments
• Maintaining a calm structured pace
• Not abandoning the walk when the dog becomes uncertain
• Using movement to help the dog settle and focus

Walking is one of the most powerful tools for helping a dog release nervous energy and build confidence.

Follow along as Kash progresses through his board & train program.

Board & Train: Building Trust with Kash the Corgi 🐾

The first days of a board & train program are about comfort and trust, not intense training.

Before a dog can learn, they need to feel comfortable with their trainer and environment. One of the best ways to start that process is with a simple walk.

With Kash, I wanted to observe his baseline behavior around mild distractions. Interestingly, he showed less reactivity than expected, which helps reveal his triggers and guide the next steps in his training.

Training starts with connection before correction and comfort before control.
