๐พ A little Dapper Dog update! ๐พ
Over the last few days, Iโve had several new faces come through the salon, and itโs reminded me just how important it is to make sure every dog is the right fit for the Dapper Dog environment.
Because Dapper Dog is a one-on-one, low-stress salon, Iโm making a small change to how I accept new clients.
If your dog has been a longstanding client of another salon, Iโll now require an evaluation/meet & greet before booking a full groom.
This isn't about judging where your dog has been groomed before. Every groomer has a different style, every salon has a different environment, and not every dog is the right fit for every groomer. And that's okay. โค๏ธ
Maintaining a low-stress environment is one of my biggest priorities, not just for your dog, but for me too. I genuinely love what I do, and I want to protect that.
I have no problem working with anxious dogs, nervous dogs, or dogs with behavioral challenges. Some of my favorite dogs have needed extra patience, extra time, and a little more understanding.
But there is a standard of behavior at Dapper Dog. Your dog doesn't have to be perfect, but they do need to be reasonably safe and manageable in a one-on-one grooming environment.
If your dog needs extra breaks, additional handling time, a slower introduction, or simply more time to complete their groom, I am absolutely willing to work with that.
That allows me to schedule the appropriate amount of time, prepare for your dog's needs, and make sure neither of us is being rushed or pushed past our limits.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: a safe, calm and positive experience for your dog AND for me.
Sometimes that means Dapper Dog will be the perfect fit. Sometimes it may mean another groomer is a better fit for your dog, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. โค๏ธ
