🐾🌧️ MONROE COUNTY — PLEASE READ! 🌧️🐾

With this storm coming, PLEASE take a few minutes to prepare your pets!

📍 MAKE SURE YOUR DOG HAS IDENTIFICATION!

Put a collar on your dog with your name and phone number attached. If you don’t have a tag, write your phone number directly on the collar with a permanent marker.

🎯 HUNTERS — PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO IDENTIFY YOUR DOGS TOO!

If necessary, write your phone number with a permanent marker on the inside of their ear.

Yes, I know we are probably going to get some grief for telling people to write on their dog. 🤷‍♀️ But honestly, it is one of the quickest and easiest ways for us to identify your dog and contact you.

Even if your dog is microchipped, having your information visibly on them can help prevent your dog from having to be removed from the area just to find a microchip scanner.

📸 HAVE A CURRENT PICTURE OF YOUR PET!

Please make sure you have a CURRENT picture of your dog or cat saved on your phone.

It is hard for us to identify a picture of a 3-week-old puppy or kitten and try to imagine what they look like 3 years later. 😂

Pets grow, their coats change, markings can look different, and sometimes they look completely different as adults.

A current picture can make a HUGE difference if your pet gets lost.

🏠 PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE DURING THE STORM.

If you have an enclosed garage, porch, shed, barn, or other safe enclosed area, move your dog or cat there for the night if you don’t want them inside your home.

They are scared. They don’t understand what’s happening. They cannot get themselves to safety.

And PLEASE…

DON’T BE A JERK AND LEAVE YOUR ANIMAL CHAINED OUTSIDE DURING THIS STORM.

Bring them inside or get them somewhere safe and secure.

A few minutes of preparation could be the difference between being reunited with your pet and searching for them afterward.

If you are wanting to get your cat fixed, please make sure you have confirmed with us that you have a spot BEFORE bringing your cat.

⚠️ Please do not assume you are on the list! We want to make sure everyone has a confirmed appointment and we have the correct number of animals scheduled.

Getting your pets fixed helps prevent unwanted litters and helps reduce the number of animals entering our shelters.

🐾❤️ ANOTHER HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO OUR EXCEL AG STUDENTS! ❤️🐾

These amazing students have been at it again!

This time, they built benches and ramps for our shelter dogs, helping make their kennel spaces safer, more comfortable, and a little more like home.

✨ 2 dogs received rebuilt shelves!
✨ 3 dogs received rebuilt ramps!

And as you can see… Huckleberry absolutely LOVES his new shelf!

It’s the little things that can make such a BIG difference for our shelter babies. We are so thankful for students who are willing to put their skills and hearts to work to help our animals.

Thank you, Excel Ag Students, for loving our dogs and helping make their days a little better! We appreciate you more than you know!
